Anyone know about memory loss?

Bowski, 26 August, 2009 at 13:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Does anyone have any ideas about memory loss. I seem to be forgetting things, like how to spell words and I even forgot my grandma's name for 3 hours. I'm quite worried about this but don't know if I'm just being stupid. I'm seeing my GP at 1:40 today on another matter, would you mention it or am I just over reacting?

I did but I can't remember it now. [wink]

You're probably at the GP by now but I have raised problems with my memory with my GP before. He did some basic tests and checks said that he didn't think I had a brain tumour or anything and it was probably due to my depression and the medication I'm taking so not to worry.

It is a pain though. I used to have a brilliant memory but now I forget such silly things. I was at work the other day and couldn't remember the name of the guy who was sat in front of me. I had to wait 20 minutes until someone said his name before I remembered. I've only known him 3 years.

If you haven't mentioned it to your GP this time I wouldn't worry about it but I would mention it next time.

WSS. I forgot my own age last week. I ended up asking my H when I got home and he looked at me like I was mental. Again, my GP thinks it's probably down to my depression and to be fair I have had short term memory loss from anti-depressants before, guess it was only a matter of time before I started losing my memory in between times!

    ?

I don't know about it but I do know what it's like. I'm really struggling with my memory and it has become much worse since my breakdown last year. Since starting to knit, I can't count higher than 5 if I have more than a few seconds in between. I'm finding it really upsetting. I can't remember birthdays any more, or any other dates. I can't remember what's next on a recipe or list.

I would speak to your GP about it. xx

*Sigh* this is the 9th time I've tried to reply!

I asked her about it and she said it's more likely stress as I have a lot going on with my Dad's cancer and my mum making everything about her and me being made to entertain them. She said that when you have lots on your mind things that are routine suddenly stop being routine. I've got to keep an eye on it and if things get worse then I need to go back.

It's all a bit scary TBH
