Anyone know about property?

Argh, 25 June, 2008 at 20:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

We bought a plot of land about a year ago, and paid the solicitor off at that time. A bill has arrived today as what we paid was apparently not enough to cover the cost of searches and land registry. Its for £240. Is it me or is this a bit odd? Having a bill turn up a year late...

I would be livid if a bill turned up a year later! Im not sure if technically you have to pay it or not though.

That is odd, and I would not be impressed after all this time.

On the flip side we got sent a cheque by our solicitor in April following our house sale/purchase. The letter said they'd done their end of year accounts and it was extra/interest left from what we'd paid them or something. It was only £60-odd but still a nice surprise!

It's taken my husband in excess of five years to get paid by some of his instructing solicitors, so nothing will ever surprise me about them.
