Anyone know anything about amaryllis flowers?

I thought i would want roses untill i saw these lovely red and white almost stripy flowers, are they sold in the uk? are they stupidly expensive? I am totaly clueless about flowers!

    They are lovely and you normally find them in the shops during the winter. They come in many different colours and are cheap as well unless they are out of season (as far as i know)
