Anyone making their own crackers?

Quincy, 3 December, 2008 at 14:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

I've decided to make crackers this year, so I can put additional little gifts inside - earrings/necklaces for the women and miniature aftershaves for the guys.

So, having gone and bought the gifts I now need to buy the cracker making kit things. I've seen some on Amazon (but with a fiver for delivery) and some on Hawkins website. Are there anymore out there? Ideally I'd like them big enough to fit a miniature alcohol bottle in, but this isn't essential.

I've googled, but a lot of the sites are for wholesale.

Thank you

I read the title and was thinking you meant cream crackers, in which case life really is too short ?

    I think MrsJess is?

The Works do kits pretty cheap and look fine - particularly if you further jazz up with your own decorations, ribbons etc. I'm pretty sure they'd fit a miniature.

If it has to be online, there are tons on ebay if you search 'make own crackers'

You can get a pack from Sainsburys for a couple of pounds, all the stuff in it to make your own, you just add the gifts.

Boots normally have them and I'm sure I saw them in Matalan this year

Just as a thought, would a miniature end up smashed on the floor after a vigorous cracker pull?

You can get the kits from the £ shop. The Altrincham £ shop had loads a couple of days ago.

Ah yes, it could quite possibly end in disaster. Maybe I shall cease searching for cracker kits large enough for a whiskey miniature, and just get my dad something different!

I used to make crackers when I was little. We would start saving toilet roll tubes from about October ? and then cut them until they were almost in half so it would be relatively easy to pull apart. I then wrapped them in crepe paper & wrote my own jokes. I dont think we had hats. My mum got the 'bangs' from a party shop in Reading.

Guess that might not be so helpful though ?

I bought some from ebay, which were quite nice and did not seem so pricey. In the past Tesco have also done the kits but I was fed up with the designs which were always the same.

These were they. Sorry for the long link:
