Anyone married at Peckforton Castle?

MrsTalbot2b, 30 June, 2008 at 19:40 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi,

We're going to look at Peckforton Castle on Friday and was wondering if anyone on here had married there or been to a wedding there? Would love to get a couple of personal opinions! We're looking to get married in November 2009. ?

Thanks!
Maria

I have never been to a wedding there but I have been there far far too many times to count, I used to volunteer at a youth club and we would camp in Beeston with all the kids. Ahh it brings back many memories.

Its gorgeous there and the locals are great to get on with too. Also there are some fantastic opps for photo's too. Plus if You can travel over to Beeston Castle you could have some breathtaking shots there. And its only a 10 min drive between the two castle its easily doable.

While you are in the neck of the woods, check out the Candle workshop, and the ice cream farm. Ooo ooo also have a pub lunch in the Shady Oak pub, you wont be dissapointed at all, Fab food served on the edge of the canal!

Peckforton is a wonderful location, both internally and externally it is great for photographs.

We have shot there and are shooting a large wedding there in August.

We were invited to eat with the guests at the last wedding, the food was lovely and the service was great.

Hope this helps good luck with your planning.

If you need a any specific questions answering drop me a PM.

Not got married their but know the venue from a photography point of view and it is fab.

I know I looked to get married there about 6 years ago and it was not so nice then but it has since been taken over by different owners and now that it is done up as a hotel I have only heard good things about it.

Peckforton Castle is great. It changed hands a year or 2 ago and is meant to be fantastic now. I would have loved to have got married there but we decided it was too pricey (and too booked up!) for a Saturday in August. Whilst you are in the area I would recommend lunch at the Pheasant opposite the Candle Factory or ice cream at the ice cream farm.

We went to look at Peckforton Castle, the only thing I would say is dont get your hopes up until you know the availability, they show you around first then they discuss when they are free. I loved the area where the ceremony would take place, it was idyllic for us as we wanted fires, and candles etc, however, the room that would suit our size, wasnt as nice, although have to be bear in mind it is an old castle so some bits are going to be "worn" There were also a lot of extras on top of the price, so as long as you go with an open mind, you will probably fall in love with it, but as was post earlier, it is very booked up and quite expensive.

Not been married there.. but would love to be - but its way way out of our price range! I ran a work event there last year - to the tune of what should have been a huge disaster! Scottish Power decided to cut electricity to the whole place - the day before we arrived, so the loo was outside in the dark, we had a projectors and two uplighters for lighting (run on a generator come tractor outside) and only a fire in the great hall - we were all huddled up in coats! HOWEVER - the staff were fantastic, did their very best to ensure we were ok and looked after us brilliantly. We were all restored by 5.30 and went on to have a lovely medieval banquet in the hexagonal dining room - so nice two of the boys had two dinners... ?. The place is beautiful and amazingly restored. The only thing is the great hall is difficult to hear in because of the height of the ceilings. It's the most famous thing I've ever run now and still gets talked about. ?
