Anyone not enjoying fireworks?!

Bombay Mix, 5 November, 2008 at 20:21 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I know it's only because I'm upduffed with backache that I'm not out enjoying a properly organised local display that I'm having to endure this so I should just put and shut up.

But should I really have to put up with what I know is just relentless loud banging, with no accompanying pretty sparkles, set off by the charming local yeeeeeuwthz?!

STOP IIIIIT!!!

I dont think they should be sold to the general public personally, and they should only be sold for displays. I think these things are way too dangerous! I have 2 very scared dogs and it's not fair. If it was just for one night then yeah, but it goes on too long! <sorry got carried away with moaning ,lol>

I'm beginning to agree with you. I had to laugh a few days ago when I noticed a shop had opened up just down the road from me selling only fireworks, with a huge sandwich board outside bearing the genius marketing slogan "BIG ROCKETS SOLD HERE". I'm sure their main customers are not events organisers!

Me. I've just had a huge fight with my OH re the dog.

I said to him before he took him out, yes he'll be scared but just act normal, do not reassure him you'll be confirming his fears.

What did he do? yep he came over all baby talk told the dog its nothing to be scared off, patted his back etc. The dog wouldn't go out of the gate.

Dog is sitting beside me, farting like a trouper obviously needing to go out. Gah!

My cat Dylan, who's sat on my lap. He's had a bit of a traumatic day as his ear has obviously been playing up, so we took him to the vet's this afternoon who had a good rummage round in his ear and put some drops in it

Our other cat, Virago, was brought up on H playing Tour of Duty, so doesn't mind the bangs at all

My dog is desperate to go for a walk ? When we've had ones at home we get a small box which costs about £10, lots of fountains and a Catherine wheel.

I'm another one for public displays only, then we might not have at least 2 weeks either side of fireworks night with them going off all the time. i think anyone woth animals feels the same - our 2 cats are currently hiding under the bed and when our family dog was still around fireworks were a nightmare - he just didn't know what to do with himself and there was no way of calming him down, it was awful to watch him so stressed out.
