Anyone not having a first dance?

My friend got married a couple of years ago and can't dance for toffee so not only did she not have a first dance, she didn't have a DJ at all! The wedding was near the beach so instead we all walked down to the beach after the speeches and had some fun down there before the car picked them up from the beach and they were whisked away on honeymoon. Go with your gut, if you really don't want a first dance then don't have one, but I would say if you are having music then you'll need to get a few other key people involved in starting the dancing otherwise people may wait for your lead.

Its your choice at the end of the day so if you dont want to then i wouldnt. I agree, how about getting someone else to do the 1st dance xx

I knew i'd have to provide an alternative as people will be expecting i. There's just something so cringeworthy about having all the people gushing over 2 people standing in the middle of a dancefloor barely moving! I'll rope in my sister (MOH) and ask the DJ to pick something suitable to get people on the floor. I'll spread the word amongst our guests before hand aswell as most of them are local. I've done a lot of work for this wedding and so far not pissed anyone off but this could be something my M-I-L really doesn't like... oh well. T S! lol

This is the one bit of the whole day that im dreading, i dont like being in front of a crowd and plus im an awful dancer ?. we were thinking of having the bridal party dance along with us. doesnt seem so scary then ?

We're going to insist on some others coming on the dance floor with us (on pain of death, or cutting off their alcohol supply, whichever is worse).

We didnt have one- we all went outside and had sparklers instead
