Anyone not having a Hen?

Hey all, hope your plans are going well!! I was just wondering if anyone out there isn't having a Hen do? I'm not a big drinker or dancer so clubbing has never been my thing! I was just wondering if anyone out there isn't having a Hen do? I'm not a big drinker or dancer so clubbing has never been my thing! I don't have a big group of girl friends either so feel it would be a bit sparse. May just have a nice evening in with a good DVD and my Mum Smiley tongue

Anyone else got anything un-henny planned?

I went on a friend's hen do this weekend & it was okay but I now definitely know that I dont want a "get pissed & go clubbing" type hen do. What I'd love is a spa break in a nice hotel with dinner & a few bottles of wine so we can all have a good natter & a few giggles!

I don't have a lot of girl friends yet there has somehow ended up being 15 female friends and family being invited to a weekend do for. I have no control at all over it and have no real clue whats going, but suspect there will be a DVD/pampery type night in and am hoping the second night is going to be a meal at one of the gorgeous restaurants in the town near me. I don't like clubs, much prefer pubs and restaurants where I can have a drink and something to eat.

I've also been surprised by my mum and step-mum who are organising a mum's and daughter only spa stay for the three of us. I can't wait. We each get a massage, use of the water spa facilities, use of any other facilities on site, such as the bikes and tennis courts, a three course meal and a glass of wine, a stay over night and a full english breakfast the next morning and its £99 per person which i thought was a bit of a bargain.

And then the night before the wedding is going to be just my mum, my two sisters and me, watching dvd's eating some popcorn and having a giggle.

It doesn't have to be all plastic willys and lots of drunken behaviour type night. Just a quiet meal and some time with a couple of close friends and relatives might be nice.

We're going to see the matinee performance of Dirty Dancing the Musical in Birmingham, going for a meal in the evening, staying in a travelodge overnight and traveling back the next day. My Mum and my MIL are coming as well as some of my work colleagues and my best friend. I wanted to do something but I don't drink much so the traditional booze fest wasn't going to work for me so this was perfect. I'm really excited about it!

Not having one here. I never go out anymore - I much prefer sitting in with a bottle of wine watching a film these days. We're getting married abroad with just a small handful of guests and OH mentioned having a nice meal out with our guests the night before the wedding, so this will probably serve as a 'hag' type do.

I really really don't want a hen do. I only have a couple of close female friends. The rest of my friends are male. But my BM and a few others are refusing to not let me have one despite my repeated protests and won't let my male friends come either. I've been told it will be tacky and they'll get me horrifically drunk! I have realised I just have to go along with it and make the best of it!

Someone seriously mentioned trust issues if you can't go out with your OH. I actually like going out with my husband and he was really up for a joint stag and hen do. My MOH was originally arranging mine but it would have ended up being in London, not really doing anything I wanted as all ideas were rejected and an evening clubbing (my idea of hell) I wanted to go an see a live band, this apparently wasn't a good idea as it might not be everyone's cup of tea even though the clubbing wasn't my cup of tea! Not everyone would have been able to come in the taxi or go home in it (there was only took for 6 so none of my friends would have been to come in the taxi) and I was told that if they wanted to come they would have to make their own way there and back. Funnily enought there was room for her friend! After many other dead being rejected by her, she wanted to surprise and that would have been a party boat on the Thames which her and her friends would have loved but I would have hated. I found this out when I told her I didn't want a hen night. My work friend arranged a quiet meal with colleagues which turned out to be lovely.

Sorry to rant but my experience told me that you should do what you want and not what others think you should do. If you want a DVD with your mum, go for it. Some of the ideas on here have been brilliant and you may be thinking of them instead. Once you've decided, enjoy yourself!

If I could have another chance at a hen do, I'd have a Zumba hen do as I love Zumba Smiley smile

I got really down about this in the run up to my wedding. I did have two best friends up until 4 or 5 years ago but they decided they no longer wanted to be friends (for a variety of reasons but had a lot to do with them not approving of my and my now-husband's mixed race relationship). Since then, altho I have girl friends, I don't have any really close friends and I just thought it would be too odd to invite people I'm not actually that close to to a hen night. I really struggled tho as for a few months I really felt alone and isolated due to the realisation that I'm not close to any other females and I was actually quite depressed about it. So I didn't have a hen party but instead had a family dinner at my parents' house where we invited all my uncles, aunts and cousins. It was nice, altho I still feel a bit sad about it. But ho hum. It's the getting married that counted not the hen do.

Ps I too hate the stereotypical drinking/clubbing hen thing so would never have picked that. I would have liked a sewing party!

I was reading the first paragraph about people insisting on what to do on your night and was actually getting irritated lol and yes I couldn't agree more. You should do whatever you want. There is no book with rules forcing you to have a specific type of hen or even a hen at all!

    Tybalt,

I am really lonely as all my friends are in Greece and I have really made any friends here lol but I only moved here for my OH. I wont have a hen but when we go to Greece I will have a day out with my girls as I only see them once or twice a year and at night we will go out all together with my friends and my OH and his friends and our families

I'm not doing the whole tacky 'L' plates, getting wasted and hiring strippers thing.... I'm going out for afternoon tea with some girlies and then I'll be having a good old fashioned girly sleepover. Smiley smile

    Wss^^

I was relying on my MOH to rein in the other two bridesmaids, but apparently it's a spa day followed by a night out -_-
