Sorry I don't know anything about posturepedic mattresses but thought I'd chip in anyway! My gran has rheumatoid arthritis and she bought a Tempur mattress. They are really expensive (well really expensive for me!) but she has never looked back. Her joints used to ache terribly when she got up in the morning and her back would always be worst in the morning but she says that since getting the mattress it has improved a lot. They aren't for everyone though, I tried sleeping on it and it felt like I'd sunk into quicksand!

I bought a memory foam mattress and hated it with a a fiery passion, as Shnarfy said it felt like I was sinking in quicksand, and it didn't make my back any better either. Wound up selling it on ebay and getting a new Miracoil one which is lovely and far better for my back.

Also forgot to mention I have a Silentnight Miracoil 3, it apparently has a back support built in and I get a very good nights sleep on it

Thanks for your replies - it always takes me an age to get on here these days so sorry for the delay....

I'm not overly keen on the foam mattresses I have to say so I may look into the miracoil 3 as thats the one I was thinking before the posturepedic and don't really want to buy a mattress that has no reviews if that makes sense.

    Thanks again
