Anyone recognise this dress?

MrsFoster2b, 8 January, 2011 at 22:08 Posted on Planning 0 21

Hey,

I love this dress but it was a photo from google with no indication of who the designer is. I know it's a long shot but I don't suppose anyone knows where it's from?

TIA

OMG you girls are AMAZING!!!!!! Thank you sooooo much!!

Ok a silly question i'm sure, but on designers websites they don't have prices, but they do have lists of stockists... do i have to contact/search for each stockist to compare prices or do designers have set prices that all shops stick to? If it's a case of searching through them have you ladies noticed much difference between stockists? (i.e am I going to save/lose hundreds by shopping/not shopping around? (that make sense?! lol)

    Thanks again! x

Each shop will be different unfortunately. They all set their own prices. Its always better to shop around to get the best price, although I didnt ?

Try it on first though! Then worry about getting the best price once you KNOW its your dress.

I'm a fan of maggie dresses and knowing her range they normally are around the £1000 mark some more, some less. But definantly shop around, some shops may stock it and some might not as well.

Love the dress by the way.

Yeah definitely will try it on (if it's still available nearer the time as I still have 2.5 yrs to go). I'm sure i'll change my mind a hundred times so will make sure it's 'the one' before finally deciding; but it really stood out when I saw the piccy so you never know... ;o).

Thanks for the advice on shopping around though - knowing my luck i'd buy it and then see it half the price somewhere else! haha

And thanks for the price guide - I kind of expected to pay around that price so i better start working on H2B! haha

    xx

As a guide, I found my dress stocked in 3 different shops and there was a total difference of £200 between the cheapest and the most expensive!

Definitely worth phoning round the local stockists to you, seeing if they have it and seeing the cost. I had to go 20 miles away to get my dress at the best price, but it was fate cause I found my BM dresses in the same shop and got a discount on them as well!

    Good luck and happy shopping

Wow that could pay for the cake or something! I'll be walking around shops muttering to myself "no impulse purchases" haha.

Lovely story about the BM dresses - everything happens for a reason!

I dieted to get mine cheaper lol My local store that stocks maggie dress adds £150 onto any dress ordered over a size 18 so I made sure I got my weight down hehe I ordered a maggie dress called sabelle and my dad has forked out around £1500 plus the alterations will be on top. She is definately not the cheapest designer to go for but it could be worse. Definately shop around though cos each store does vary their prices (on both the dresses and alterations) though in my experience most stores hold different styles of maggie dresses (there are nearly 400 to choose from!) and so find more than one store in your area that stock the same dress is unlikely....not impossible though!

    Here is mine....

Oh WOW yours is stunning!! I love the sparkly detail! I can't wait to start looking properly but i've told myself i'm not allowed until a bit nearer the time (still 2.5 years to go!)

On that note - I don't suppose you have any idea how long maggie dresses are usually available before they are discontinued?

I have replied to this once but it doesn't seem to be showing so apologies if you get it twice.....

I think how long the dress remain available to order depends on how well they sell. My dress is a popular seller in the states and so has been carried over into her 'new season' collections for quite some time (at least 3-4 years I believe). Having said that, it is my understanding that most of the dresses are carried over at least once making them available to order for 2 years. This doesn't mean that your local bridal store will stock the same samples for anymore than one year. Most stores will offer to order in a sample you would like to try if they don't stock it, but there is a charge for this. My bridal shop quoted £45 and they said that this amount would be taken off the price of the dress if I ordered it.

I hope this makes sense and helps in some way?!

By the way, it is never too early to start looking! Just don't go all impulse buying, especially if you have any plans to diet or if you are the type of person that changes your mind regularly. I found that I ended up with a dress that was quite different to what I thought I wanted because that it what suited my shape best. However, as I have chosen this dress I have slightly altered some of the finishing touches to our day to make them a bit more vintage themed. For me the choice of dress set the theme for our day....if you choose your theme first and start ordering/buying bits you may find you are more limited to the type of dress you choose Smiley smile

    I've tried that dress on!!!

It was lovely and a contender against mine but i didn't like the one shoulder so tucked it in and it looked better on me.

I think it was about 1k but can't quite remember xx

No probs - it only came through once. Thanks for all the advice! Yeah it helps LOADS! I might give a few stockists a tinkle this week and see if they have any ideas on how popular it is and how long it's already been in stock.

Half the reason i don't want to look too early is that i want to lose quite a significant bit of weight and so what would suit me now will (hopefully!) be entirely different to what i'll be looking for in the future.

Other half of the problem is that yes, i'm impulsive and always change my mind!! hehe

You're going to look amazing in yours - will you flash a photo when you have one of you wearing it? I'll be looking out for it!! Smiley smile

Ooooh tell me, tell me, tell me... did it look the same in 'real life' as the photo? Can you remember roughly how long ago it was (so I can work out what season it may have been from and therefore how long it may be around!)

And what did you go for in the end? (If it's not a surprise, and sorry if i've missed a flash elsewhere!)

It definalty was the dress i found the price in my purse today Smiley smile

It was about August i tried it on and it was £999 the dress i went for in the end was at the time £900 BUT as i ordered it on friday it had gone up by £200 so Annika might do the same, though your not ordering yet!!

I did love the dress and it gave me a REAL princessy feeling, i loved all the netting and the bit of bling on the front but disliked the one shoulder strap, totally looked better on me without!!

I actually went for a totally different dress that being Demi!! I just love the figure it gave me and just fell in love with it ❤️

    Demi Smiley smile xx
