Anyone stressing about losing weight?!!

MrsLtobe, 3 December, 2011 at 10:49 Posted on Planning 0 29

Argh, it's all I seem to think about and I kind of feel like I'm obsessing over it now... I've got about 1 stone to lose and I know I've got plenty of time, but I'm even having nightmares about looking horrible in my dress! (Fatty arms!! Argh!!)

Tell me I'm being silly! Smiley smile

    You are being silly!

But that's very hypocritical of me to say as I'm the same! I was at my smallest when I got engaged two years ago and the weight seems to have creeped back on (about two stone Smiley atonished) and I'm literally kicking myself now for letting it happen! I'm trying to let Christmas get out the way then I'm on a mission! I'm 5 foot 11 and terrified of looking like a giant in a white bin bag haha!

You will NOT look horrible in your dress, but it's natural to be critical as it's the one day you want to look the best version of youself! Try to stop obsessing over it, it's probably why your giving youself nightmares which will only make it worse and harder if you do want to lose weight!

I've just downloaded the MyFitnessPal app. It's great - you enter your weight and how much you want to lose and it tells you how many calories you should be eating a day. You enter everything you eat and how much exercise you're doing and it tracks your weight.

Also, we have a fat fighters club going on over on OT so come and join us if you like!

I have at least 4stone to lose so I totally understand. I am doing slimming world and it's really good. I feel good on my wedding day but with so much weight to lose it will help me to feel healthier. I put on 2+ stone since meeting OH.

I have the total opposite problem!!! I need to lose well over 7 stone for health reasons, and becasue I generally look and feel crap, and want to be stunning on my wedding day, but I just cannot motivate myself. I just dont give a sh*t.

Maybe after xmas I will find my missing mojo!

I was at my smallest this time last year, and kept it off for a good few months until I had an accident in July and have had very limited mobility (and too much comfort eating!) so loads has crept back on - like 3 stone ☹️ so I totally know how you feel!

I swing between days where I'm obsessing about it, and days like Sparkles when I can't seem to motivate myself and keep thinking 'there's always next week to start again'. I think the main battle of losing weight is in our heads!

A stone in 3 months is SO achievable though - you'll look amazing!

    ^^^ Exactly this!!!

I have been with OH for 13 years and in that time we have had two children and I have gained nearly 3 stone. I hate my post baby boby and I hate looking at my reflection however I still find it really hard to keep motivated to eat well all day every day. I let myself slide and say I'll start again which is fine but I keep doing that all the time and I'm getting nowhere. I have about 16 month until my wedding with 3 stone to lose so that works out as 42lbs in 68 weeks. Easily doable but I need to keep motivated and stop saying "I'll start next week" all the time ?

I've got three years until my wedding and I had about 3 stone to lose, so I really wasn't motivated to start losing weight! So I set myself a goal of losing 1lb a week, and anyone can do this!

So far i've lost 11.5lbs in 9 weeks, just by making small changes, e.g. less carbs in evening meal, swapping unhealthy snacks for apples and almonds, walking more.

You could try setting yourself a goal of 1lb per week for the rest of December, and then 1.5/2lbs per week, that way you could lose a stone in 2 months and have the last month to maintain it and tone up.

Best of luck, you can do it!

I'm stressing too! Was a size 12 when I met my OH and I'm now a size 16. I'd like to be a 12/14 when I get married and not have bingo wings!! I have just under 7 months to go but have no motivation (you'd think a wedding would be enough!!). I keep telling myself that I'll do something about it after xmas, but we'll see!!

Yep the bingo wings have to go on me too! My motivation only came when one of my friends announced that her hen do (2 months before my wedding) was at a spa! The thought of my closest friends seeing my flabby bits (that I normally tuck and hide away under my clothing) in a bikini horrifies me! I didn't have any motivation to shift the spare tire or sort my thighs out for my wedding as the dress seems to hide and pack it all away out of sight.. lol?

This reminded me of my friend's hen do this year-it was also a spa weekend & caused so much trauma amongst all the girls!! Everyone crash dieted before & bought new swim wear to feel better (me included) although the good news is after the first hour you relax & just enjoy it without thinking about the fact u are half naked in front of everyone you know! If in doubt get a tankini or 50s style bikini-very flattering.

I am the same-figured I'd just lose a bit nearer the time then i tried on a dress & saw my bingo wings in all their glory, making me realise I need to do some serious working out ASAP!! How long before tricep dips start to work?!

Youll easily lose a stone, don't worry. You can do it slowly & painlessly Smiley smile

I too have some weight to lose ... my wedding is in March. Got engaged last xmas and over the year I have lost a stone ... could have done so much more but just haven't got round to it at all! Now, I have got a bit scared with less than 4 months to go and have embarked on the Dukan diet as I still had about 18lbs to go. Now, yes, it has not been easy, but in the last week I have lost half a stone. I know that some of that is just water but I just need to be good when I come off the diet in order to keep it off. Now, I am a lot more positive as I have just 11lb to go which is much more manageable!! If anyone wants to join me in Dukan-ness, let me know!!! x

Yay! Honestly, the Dukan diet is well worth it ... I haven't actually been that hungry. Fat free natural yoghurt has really been the way forward! I have just been doing the protein bit without veg for the last 6 days. I think I should start adding veg now, but I need to read up on it lol.

Let me know how you get on x

Fantastic. Really looking forward to have a helping hand in terms of someone to chat to about this. I got my info from this site (I had the book as i bought it a few months ago but then gave it away as i thought that i would never do the diet) ... http://mydukandiet.com/dieting/attack-phase.html

I am going to do the attack for 10 days then I am having a day off because I am going to a friend's wedding but then I will be back on it for a couple of days, then I will move to the next phase I think.

Hope you get on ok! x

    Hi ladies,

I really need help losing weight!

I have about 10 months until my wedding and I want to lose a minimum of 1 stone and a half and ideally 3 stone.

I have been using My Fitness Pal and I love it - it is soo simple and I find that it really does limit what I will eat, but then I will have a bad day (like today) and eat 10 quality street. I managed to lose 11 pound in a month and want to get down to my pre-baby weight by new year (10lb more to lose). I think I am setting unrealistic goals really but I know that I will put on some over xmas so if I can lose a chunk quickly I wont feel as guilty.

I am interested in this Dukan diet you have mentioned, any tips on a beginner so that I stay focused?

    Help is much appreciated.

I don't need to lose any weight to fit into my dress, but I would like to lose about half a stone. There's no way I can do that before Christmas but have to look good by the end of Feb when we go to Centreparcs with my skinny friends!

Well Gemmie, I have just finished a week on the Dukan, so am no oracle of knowledge, but all I did was give the website (in the post above) a good read. I really planned what I was going to eat. I start out with bacon and eggs (poached or scrambled) for breakfast because to me, that is a major treat!! Then, I have had cooked chicken and then some natural yoghurt for lunch, then two types of meat and a bit of yoghurt for dinner. My OH has dipped in and out of the diet, and I think that it is a bit easier in a way for him as he likes cheese, so has had cottage cheese too.

I'd say you really have to want to do the Dukan diet, but, it does work, so it has it's plusses. My coat is certainly more roomy after a week. Kind of looking forward to getting to xmas now ... 3 weeks to go, so hope to lose another 6lbs by then.

    Keep us posted Smiley smile

*phew*... it's reassuring knowing I'm not alone in this! I've never been one for 'diets'.. just calorie counting seems to be working and I've tried to be good these last couple of days, including doing yoga! What exercise do you all do? xx

That doesn't seem too bad really, it seems quite like the South Beach Diet which is just no carbs or fruit for 10 days. I am going to start today and do it for a week as I am having a girly trip to Brighton that I don't think I can get away with not eating carbs around other people, especially as they are all skinny and can eat what they want.

Last time I did it I lost 1.5 stone in 2.5 weeks so was very pleased. Hoping that I can at least lose half a stone so that I will only have a bit more to reach my pre-baby weight.

    Will keep you posted.

    Best of luck everyone.

I wanted to lose a stone before mine, I dieted, exercised, nothing, didn't lose a single pound! Then a month before the wedding I got a horrible sickness bug, and lost nearly a stone in a week!! Was just the size I wanted to be for the wedding. Needless to say have piled it back on and then some since then :-( no point to my disgusting story really, but once you are there in your dress you won't worry, I didn't even think about it I was too busy having a great day.

I just wanted to add a bit of hope and optimism to this thread. There are so many of us who feel that we need to lose weight for our big days, and whilst the truth is that if we're marrying Mr Right then it doesn't matter, we still really want to.

It IS possible though. It's not easy, in fact it's pretty hard, but all it takes is some knowledge and a good deal of motivation/stubborness.

I've got two pounds to go to have lost 4 stone and I about passed out when the dress shop lady said she was going to order me a size 10! ? I know there are others around on WP that have lost lots of weight and I'm sure some of them can offer some words of wisdom too. You can do it, you've just got to do it for the right reason and be bloody stubborn ?

Ive been doing weight watchers and ive almost lost 1 stone (0.5lbs to go to the stone) . I always think slow and steady wins the race and ww helps you to look at how you eat and change it, it also allows for choc and wine and nothing is banned. I think that people fall off the wagon because they get bored but with WW nothing is banned so you cane asily change what you eat.

Ive steadily been losing about 1.5-2lbs a week abd you can really see it! i bought a corset about 6 weeks ago and it was really wide laced at the abck and now the boning is meeting all the way down the back! i need the next size down and thats just... really kind of amazing. in 8 weeks i have lost 14inches and 13.5lbs and im never ever ever hungry. in fact sometimes i feel like i need to ADD stuff to my dinner to make the points up

i eat 36 points daily and get 49 a week to use at my leisure!

i think ita great and you gwet great online help too.
