Anyone supplying their own booze?

lotte_, 14 March, 2012 at 21:21 Posted on Planning 0 8

We decided to supply our own wine and Prosecco as our venue are only charging £5 corkage.

Has anyone found a good supplier for alcohol? I'd rather give my business to a recommended company than fill Tescos pockets!

I think we got most of ours from Sainsbury's, although I don't know whether you are any happier about filling their pockets!

The champagne was definitely Sainsbury's because we got a really good deal and I remember carting it all off. My parents got the wine, so I'm not sure where from. We just waited until wine we like was on offer and then bulk-bought.

Majestic Wines, I havent ordered mine yet, but will be using this company. They allow you to return any unopened bottles, and also suprisingly cheap.

Yes, the Calais Wine Store! We're lucky and don't have any corkage to pay, so the men went over to France several times (completely unnecessary!) to get trollied sample the wines and eventually buy it.

    Yes, we are.

The fizz we like is from Waitrose so will buy in bulk next time they have an offer (often do 25% off if buy x amount).

Our preferred red wine is cheapest at Bargain booze - although not sale-or-return so buying 2/3 from there, and then will buy the remaining qty of a slightly different one from Tesco as I understand that they do sale or return, too. This will apply to white wine aswell.

We're having a village hall reception so need to hire glasses - Waitrose do free glass loan (and charge £1 per breakage, which we think is fair). Majestic do glass loan, but you have to order form them and friends of ours have had a bad experience with our local one so we're trying to avoid.

    Hope that helps

I am doing this for all my booze.

I am going to do a spreadsheet of my favorite wines and track them on offers through the summer and with ones like majestic - and probably a trip to France for 'research' Smiley winking Buy it when i can

My parents are going to the South of France so will be buying most of it over there. It's cheaper and better quality Smiley smile We are having Pimms for the drinks reception so will probably buy it when it is on offer at Sainsburys as OH works there when he isn't at uni so will get staff discount too Smiley smile
