Anyone tried on mermaid style dresses?? *flashes*

Kadence, 20 June, 2011 at 21:13 Posted on Planning 0 9

Have fallen in love with two beautiful fitted dresses, but yet to try on - are these going to be tricky to pull off??

Im a size 12 but my hips dont lie, theyre pretty wide, I want to embrace the hourglass but think its gonna be a toughy!! What do you think??

I really like them. The best thing to do is go an try them on, take a pic, flash on here and we'll tell you what we think!

My dress has a subtle mermaid shape and I love it!

Def go and try them on and see what you think. My dress is a very fitted fishtail and I love the hourglass shape it shows!

The only way to know is to try them on.. I've got a mermaid dress and it was the last thing I wanted. I don't have any curves really and I love this dress because it gives me some!

On the positive, they look stunning and makes your figure just look amazing!

On the negative, not the easiest of things to move around in...

Are you having a country wedding where you're likely to be walking around a lot to get your photos?

Sorry to put a photography slant on things, I just can't help myself!

I've tried on the first Mikaella dress. It's stunning. I wasn't fussed on the back from a side view though, it looked a bit odd. It's not very forgiving around the stomach area either so you need to be super flat stomached!!

Benjamin Roberts 265 is very similar in shape/style to Mikaella 1508 but is a bit more structured to hold you in. The photos on the website look really naff but it's a gorgeous dress in real life.

Are they both Mikaella dresses? If so i think i tried on the 2nd one (can't quite tell from the pictures) and it was lovely on and gave a mega flattering cut. I remember it being tight fitting until quite low down so a little more restictive than some mermaid styles that go out a bit higher iyswim. It was still easy enough to flounce around in but i'm going to need to manouvre lots of steps so not so good for me! But i agree, if you have curves the mermaid style will look fab.

If I'm honest I don't like mermaid/fishtail style dresses at all but that's just my personal opinion. The only way to tell if they suit you is to go and try them on. And then flash! ?
