Anyone work as a Clerk to Governors or a School Governor?

Jacksmum, 3 July, 2008 at 16:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Hi,

I've got two interviews next week for Clerk to the Governing Body of a local primary school and a nursery school. I just wondered if anyone else did this job and if so, could you give me any pointers before my interview?

What sort of things do you do? Any downside to the job?!

I've vistited various websites but am keen to get as much info as I can so that I at least sound knowledgeable!

Many thanks x

No, but I've got an interview for one next week too. If you're in Kent then we could be going up against each other. ?

I'll watch this thread to see if anyone more helpful replies.

My Dad has been chairman of the governors at my old primary school for years and My mum is a primary school head.

They both complain that their clerk has no communication skills and doesn't understand the differring needs of the shool and the governors. Lack of knowlegde of relevant law has been another complaint. Look for the Clerk to Governors handbook on the relevant council website if you haven't already got that.

    Good luck!

    Hi,

Mine is in the Midlands! Would be interesting to hear if anyone currently does this job. There looks to be a lot to it. Have you been on governornet?
