Anyone work in gynae?

pippin, 28 April, 2009 at 10:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I just want to ask if anyone has had any experience of this and if i am overreacting. I stopped taking the pill over a year now and i have not had a period at all. I came off the pill in the hope to have a baby so i am panicking about my fertility now. Would it be permature to go and see a gynaecologist. I don't want to waste anyones time. Thanks for any help.

I don't work in gynae, but I'd have thought it was reasonable to at least get the ball rolling by seeing your GP. A year's a long time! I know everyone's different, but my own periods came back right away when I came off the pill. But a year is a long time to still be waiting I'd think.

Also, do you know that you are definitely not pregnant? Have you tested?

I was on it for 11 years from when I was 21 till I was 32 and my periods came back right away as I said. But of course everyone is different. I think a visit to the GP wouldn't go amiss. I am sure no-one will think you are wasting their time. ?

I'd also say go to the GP. If you were posting this 2 months after coming off the pill, I'd probably say wait a while, but a year is a pretty long time, in fact the length of time that GPs normally ask couples with no known fertility issues to TTC for before they can be referred for further investigation.

IYou won't be wasting anyone's time. What a frustrating year it must have been for you xxx
