Apologies for the WP thread in OT, but... OM's: advice on time of year please!

BigRedCandle, 27 January, 2012 at 14:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

Hi!

Er, first of all sorry for posting wedding stuff in OT, but WP scares me now and I thought I'd get actual advice in here as opposed to being drowned in hun.

OM's: would you recommend the month you got married in for a wedding? Or would you have preferred another month/time of year?

Mr R has said he would prefer either May, June or September, and I'm trying to compare the three but am being drawn more towards September.

Thank you!

We chose May - our choice was between May and September.

It was a close call on the basis that we could have had a gloriously warm and sunny day or a miserable grey day during either month. It needed to be outside of the cricket season (yes, yes, I know) but neither of us fancied a summer wedding for us (same went for a winter one).

In the end May won out because it was going to be the sooner of the two months 2011 and we just wanted to be married.

We had glorious, hot sunshine and heavy rain and thunderstorms. Thankfully we had the good stuff when we were outside and the soggy stuff very early in the morning and during the evening.

For me I think spring or autumn weddings are better cos I hate being hot and bothered especially the amount of nervous sweating I did on my wedding day ?

We got married February (not really through choice).

It was grey, rainy and cold but still fabulous! We had originally booked for September.

Thanks ladies, I really like the idea of May but possibly September will be better - a few more months to save!

We got married in October. We both love Autumn so it was perfect for us. Our day was also the hottest day in October for 10yrs.

We went for the beginning of June as I love the flowers that are out at this time of year (roses and paeonies) and it isn't near either of our birthdays.

We had a beautiful sunny day with a bit of a breeze. warm enough to take the reception outside in the evening. The weather broke the next day and it rained the just about the rest of the summer (rain through the aeroplane window at Heathrow as we jetted off to our honeymoon...ahhhhh)

September was our second choice but we wanted to go abroad for a special honeymoon straight after the wedding and we always go surfing in Cornwall in Sept and didn't want to miss that either!

We got married in May as we wanted a spring wedding. You can't rely on the weather in any month, I think summer is the worst, we get much better weather in spring or autumn these days. As it was, we had blue sky all day, it was warm and not a drop of rain!

We got married at the beginning of October. Beautifully sunny gorgeous day but did rain in the evening. I wouldn't change it if I had the day again.

We chose March as it was the best time for our honeymoon, we chose the 19th as it was our 5 year anniversary.

We also went for out of season, our venue was thousands of pounds cheaper!

Beautiful gorgeous day, sun shone and was warm. Week before forecast snow for the day. Don't fret about the weather, you can't influence that.

We had Sept 4th 2011 it was a beautiful day, sun shone all day long. We were between May and Sept too and we chose Sept based on weather averages over the previous years! If I could choose again I would reccommened a September wedding no doubt about it!

We got married in Dec, not through choice tho. Was the only time I was definitely garunteed a groom as he had just finished a 7 month deployment and was on r&r. Weather was perfect, freezing cold as to be expected but no rain!
