April 2012 Brides anyone?

Vee Tee, 17 August, 2011 at 14:27 Posted on Planning 0 34

I am so excited and yet its almost 8 months to my big day - 14th April 2012, I can't help but think and plan and worry all day every day.

I am worried I'm going to drive myself insane! (and my fiance and mother too no doubt!)

How are you all coping???

    Hi Vixj83,

I am also an April bride, 7th to be exact!!!

I am worried that I will not have anything to say once the wedding is over, it is all I think and talk about! I change my mind all the time and I think my new ideas are driving my mum slightly insane and have cause my H2B to work away haha!

How are your plans going? Where are you getting married?

    xxx

Awww you're exactly the same as me!!! That is my exact concern too - I am so going to get the post wedding blues. That is the reason I was so set on us going off on our honeymoon immediately lol, prolong it a wee bit ?

I am getting married in the Castle of Mey, in Caithness. It was bought and restored by the Queen Mother after the Kings death and she visited for her summer hols every year til she died, so it has a special place in the hearts of us locals and I was so delighted to learn that they had started doing weddings not long before we got engaged. I actually fancied the 7th as a date myself because of Easter but the castle is open to the public easter weekend so we couldn't.

    Where are you getting married?

Oh wow Zoe, that looks and sounds amazing, my colour theme is lavender (bridesmaids and table decor/cake etc) which will accent the purples in the kilts.

I also have a wee side theme of butterflies like on the invites etc, which my mum is making herself.

If i can work out how to put a pic up il put one of 'my castle' lol

I have just googled your venue vixj83 it looks amazing, very jealous! I am getting married at a place called West Tower in Aughton, Lancashire, its a country house hotel that mainly specialises in weddings.

Zoe, can't believe the price of your wedding has halved by moving forward a day, that is great! Your church and venue look fab and the dress definitely has the wow factor!

I don't have a theme as such, my colour scheme is platinum with hints of pink to brighten it up. I have got pretty much all the big things sorted, venue, registrar, photographer, florist, chaircovers, quartet etc. I am starting to work on the small things now and trying to think of some details to make the day a bit more special and less run of the mill! I have my bridesmaid dresses and I am having my dress custom made, it will be a 1950s style, tea length dress with a very full skirt, the lady is also making me a bespoke corset with I am more excited about! I don't care if I can't breathe for a day if I have a tiny waist haha!

    xx

Yeah tell me about it! Before we know it it will be 6 months to go then it will be 'our last unmarried Christmas' Then New Year! and it will be 'we get married THIS YEAR!' then suddenly panic stations!!! LOL

    SO excited.

I said to my H2B last night, can we do something nice and special on our 6 months til the wedding date and he said 'yeah of course, is that September yeah?' I said NO October!! Then we remembered he is off on a course on the 14th October...Smiley sad but then he said he'll get the early train home on the 15th and take me out for dinner Smiley laugh

I think if possible i'm getting more wedding obsessed by they day! This forum hasn't helped me calm down at all its just encouraging me lol

Another 20th April bride here ?

Wedding planning's been on hold for me for a little while as we've just bought our first house and moved in, man that was stressful!!

Back on the wedding planning now though, it is exciting, I can't wait!! Though I'm starting to panic as I've done practically nothing!

    Hi All April Brides

I know, this has been the fastest year of my life, I dread to think how fast next year will go! At least we will have something to look forward to in dreary January and we will be that busy winter will fly by!

I have booked an appointment to try dresses on this Sunday to get a better idea of what suits me before I sign off the final design! Although I am having it made I don't want to miss out on trying loads of dresses on first, I am only planning on doing this wedding thing once.

Where are all you ladies from?

I'm from Thurso on the north coast of Scotland.

See above for some venue flashes from me.

Got my shoes back today! OMG what a relief. I ordered them online back in May and when they arrived they were at least 2 sizes too small. A combination of small made and an incorrect size conversion chart on their site (plus my own ignorance) They were non refundable for size so I was gutted. (I was even more gutted when I got a customs bill weeks later for them...) They just never had them in stock in the correct size and I had fallen in love with them as soon as I saw them in real lift. Then one day last month I just checked the site one more time and they were in stock in an 8, I am between a 7 and 8 but because they are small made I went with the 8 - today they arrived. I am so glad I took an impromptu run home at lunchtime cos there they were on the porch. I tried them on and they fit like a glove!!!

I liked them in the pic but trust me, so much nicer in real life!!

They are gorgeous vixj83, very pretty, love the crystal trim! Very elegant and a great heel height, thank god for the impromtu trip home ?! I am desperate for some killer heels, my fella has already declined my request for Christian Louboutins haha! I am now looking at more reasonably priced heels!

I am from sunny Manchester, well it is sunny today for a change!

Its sunny with us too! Very unusual. We also had an unusually magnificent april this year, which makes me suspiciuos lol. Think il be expecting rain on our wedding day but hey never mind, we have the indoors of our venue for photos. I would have loevd some designer shoes too but sadly I just cannot walk in heels, let alone wander around all day in them. The little heels on mine are the max I could have handled! Have a look on ebay tho maybe for 2nd hand? I saw some nice ones that were still too dear lol. Mind you my 'cheap' shoes from china didnt really come out cheap at all once you added on the postage, the customs bill and then doing it all over again to get the same ones in the right size! Im hoping to sell the original too small ones and get a bit of my money back but never mind its all worth it now I have them. They certainly don't look or feel 'cheap'.

Oh I also got my wedding perfume back last month, White Gardenia Petals by Illuminum, as worn by the duchess of cambridge on her wedding day. LOL I know, I thought it was a bit twee of myself to order it cos of that without even smelling it but I just knew she would have great taste and I absolutely loved it when I got it back. I just wore it once to check my H2B wasnt allergic (as he will take an asthma attack with some)

I was in Manchester recently Mrs B 2 be, thats where I got my wedding jewellery. Mum took me into Swarovski and bought a necklace and earrings for my xmas present (but to be saved for the wedding lol.)

    xx

Hi Mrs B to Be, where are you getting your dress made from? I'm planning on having mine made too.

I tried dresses on last Sunday and yesterday, it definitely reaffirmed that what I want is what I want and also gave me some more ideas ?

    I'm down in London.

Have you ladies got your honeymoons sorted yet?

I'm another April 2012 bride, 5th April for me. So far we've sorted the venue (civil ceremony at venue), tog, invitations, and some other little bits for the tables, etc. Very exciting! I've been dress shopping a few times, but not found the right one yet, but I've got another appointment tomorrow so hoping to finally choose one!

Good luck with all your planning!!!

Thanks for the compliments guys, I just adore my venue, I'm out there the whole time - any excuse for a cup of coffee in the visitor centre just so I can keep seeing it and keep imaginging stuff lol. Mind you it will be closing for the season soon and then the next time I see it will be my final pre-wedding shoot in Feb/March ! ooh gosh just saying that sounds so close.

I know exactly what you mean about driving people crazy, i cant help myself, every conversation somehow lends itself to something in the wedding i can't stop blurting out.

I was recently mortified when i met my sister in tesco clothing dept (where she works) and her new boyfriend was there who had just arrived up for the weekend from edinburgh and it was the first time me and H2B had met him. I thought it went ok, then like a week later she said to me 'he asked if you ever talk about anything other than your wedding...' mortified...especially since the only reason i brought the wedding up was as my way of discretely confirming to my sister and himself that he was invited assuming he was still on the scene. lol.
