Hope the planning is coming along nicely!

    HI,

It's soon under 400 days for us, it's going by sooooo quickly!!

We have booked a venue and a registrar and that's it do far.

Our venue is completely DIY so there's plenty to do!!

Meeting a caterer on Saturday so hopefully we can book that soon too.

We have a close friend who is a TOG so we are prob going to use him.

About to move house so as soon as that's done we go into full planning mode!!

I'm thinking of doing the invites but I honestly have no idea what they should look like!

Are you doing save the dates? I'm not sure if we should or just send the invited a bit earlier?

Got ceremony and reception venue booked.

    TOG booked.

    DJ booked.

    Verge of booking hair stylist.

    Bought the favours.

    Got 6 ivory brollies.

    10 pairs of flip flops.

Vintage suitcase for photobooth type props.

Made all and sent most of the save the dates.

    Asked my bridesmaids.

Startes collecting vintage bottles for centrepieces.

Asked one SIL to do the flowers (she's a florist) and other to do the cake.

Done lots of little bits too. Feel like it's going quite well, looking forward to doing the little bits and DIY stuff now!

Next is to meet with registrars in our area to give notice, H2B to ask his best man and ushers. In about 3 weeks going BM dress shopping and I'm also going to try on some dresses so very excited about that!!!

Would definitely recommend a pro TOG, after the day is gone the only material remnants left are the rings and your photos. Every bride I've spoken to says the day goes so quickly but the pro TOG picks up on all those moments you might not notice and they have been so happy when they see these details on the photos. If the non pro TOG is a guest they won't spend a fraction of the time the TOG does on photos as they will want to get involved in the wedding. Also a non pro TOG will not be equipped to deal with lighting, technicalities etc and photography is mostly about lighting and composition. Sorry if I went off on one there oops! The TOG was a big priority for us and I am really into photography myself, although very much an amateur! So I can see very clearly the difference between the two. I would never want anyone to be upset over their photos because no one told them the difference between a pro and non pro TOG.

Best way is to do some research, look at TOGs that cover your area, look at how much you can allocate them out of your budget and have a chat with some to get reassurance. Plus: everyone is lovely here and always willing to help so you can always talk to us about it! I would get them backed up on disc, it's just nice to have that if you want to print any of them. You could just go for a disc only option and save lots of money by doing your own album.

Good luck and hope you get it sorted :-) x

Hi ladies!! Nice to know there are some April brides on here!

I felt organised until reading what some of you have got sorted!

    I have....

Venue (includes church / reception / accom / food)

Booked Priest (need to do registrars)

Booked photographer - I am over the moon with her and would suggest it's worth doing as like someone has already said, it's the only thing you are left with

    Booked DJ

Have tried on dresses and have ideas of themes etc but need to get going on the big stuff and let the rest fall into place! I am on eBay and tryin got do as much as I can myself to try and cut costs and the stuff I have booked so far is pricey (but the things we planned to spend the most on)

Do you feel you have stuck to your budget yet? I haven't...and the number of people we want to invite is growing by the minute - up to 130 now YIKES x

Is that 130 for the main wedding and wedding breakfast? Our guest list is creeping up too, currently on 90 for the wedding and 120 (ish) for the evening!

Our date is 12th April 2014 and so far we have:

Booked the venue (same place for ceremony, wedding breakfast and afterdoo).

    Booked the registrar.

Booked our photographer (who is a good friend - she's coming to stay with us this weekend so we'll discuss ideas in more detail).

Booked a magician (debating whether to have him for the photographs, or the period between the wedding breakfast and evening doo).

Booked a few shops to try dresses on (1 day in April and a second in May) with my mum and bridesmaids.

Have asked my 3 bridesmaids and my brother for Usher.

Have made contact with some cake suppliers for quotes.

Have got some hen doo ideas together and have left it with my MOH to do the rest.

    We will soon be sorting:

Asking the best men and the remaining ushers.

Save the dates and invitations (we've had quite a few ideas for making them ourselves - FYI, Hobycraft is a brilliant place to shop!)

    Need to pick colour theme.

Will make contact with caterers for quotes.

I think that's enough for the time being...the last thing I want is for us to get stressed about it Smiley smile

Haha same here, I felt organised until I read all of these comments! Oooo, I am 5th so day after you Smiley smile Mexico as a honeymoon does sound amazing! We are thinking a cruise to the fjords Norway because it looks amazing but wouldn't usually go somewhere like that on holiday....and love the idea of a cruise. That's good info about the TOG, thank you. I think I am edging towards getting a TOG even if it's just couple of hours x

Ahh not long to go at all then! I've always imagined how fast the time must go!

I'm not getting married myself (yet! Waiting for OH to propose!) but I'm helping plan my cousin and a friends wedding! (I'm a sucker for weddings!)

It's amazing as there is sooo much you have to get done and it never feels like you have enough time! :-)

With regards to the photographer, I know it may seem silly coming from me (being a photographer n'all) but I do think it's really important to have a professional. I know that many people have different budgets and can only afford certain things, which I have no problem by the way, so not to stand on anyones toes, I know it's different for everyone and there are suppliers out there who will apply to all :-)

When I meet brides I always say to them to make sure they have someones work who is professional, of good quality and who's style they love! Try not to focus too much on price (though it is an important factor with regards to budgets!)why? Because after your wedding the cake has been eaten, the venue hired out to someone else, your dress is in a beautiful box in your wardrobe (no doubt to play dress up in when no one is home ;-)) and all you have left are your wedding photos, and a video if having a videographer x

I really do think it is important as these will be passed down for generations and you want your grandbabies to look at the photos and see how happy, and beautiful you looked on your day, in gorgeous photographs!

Again that is my opinion, but not as a photographer, as a person. It breaks my heart when I hear stories about people who aren't happy with their photos because they budgeted for it last (though it isn't always the case!) As for the disc, most supply those in the price anyway!

I hope you get it sorted x Just make sure you're happy with your decision and can see yourself in their photos! :-)

Happy wedding planning everyone! I'm extremely envious!

DATE TWIN!!!! how exciting!!! Yes 130 all day and maybe 20-30 people extra in the evening BUT we have left the list for a month now to have a break and go back to it as it can get stressful. Would ideally like 130 and that's it

I am having Navy suits and then nude/peach/cream for the bridesmaids! I have tried on dresses and think I have found the one but am going to a few more shops just to be sure! I have 6 bridesmaids, 5 ushers, 4 page boys, 2 best men! It's a hectic wedding but exactly what I want! We have big families and lot's of friends so wanted everyone involed. I can't wait! When did you get engaged?X

Oh good - I don't feel so bad about having a large guest list now!! My mum was so shocked when I told her how many we were thinking of inviting... apparently that just wasn't the done thing in her day!

Ahh date twins, and there's 2 best men involved too! There's quite a long list of people we'd like as ushers due to my brother and also my best friend being male too.

We were engaged on 29th September last year, I can't believe how quick the time has gone so far. i see from your sig that yours was an NYE proposal Smiley smile

It does seem a lot of people but at the same time you only get married once (or at least hope so) ?

I want full big white wedding but H2B would love us 2 and close family on a beach - luckily I WIN

Yes NYE, was nice and simple, seem to have got a lot done in a short amount of time and have had the most horrible start to the year with family stuff so I am proud of what we've done so far! Where you thinking for honeymoon? We may go away a month or so after to try and drag out the excitement, I am really worried that after the wedding we will be depressed....I reckon I'll still be on here haha

Where are you from and where have you booked?

5th of April here! Eeeeeek under 400 days!!!!

    So fair we have;

*Booked the church (but thinking of changing the ceremony time!)

    *Booked the reception venue

    *Bought the bridesmaid dresses

    *Bought wedding insurance

*Found my perfect dress (JA 8465!!!!)- but waiting for a second try on in April to make sure and then I can order it with less than 12 months to go!!!!! ?

*OH's family have a printing business so all invitations etc. will be done through them

I'm very set on my theme so I will be buying/crafting vintage and lace items over the next 11 months, alongside my mum who is simply amazeballs at anything craft related!

Next on the to do list is definitely a photographer, I think it's such an important part and as people have said it's how you will look back on the whole day, as I'm sure it will be such a blur! xxx

Yeah! That's what I said. And also a lot of our friends played a big part in us getting together so they should definitely see us get married.

We're hoping to honeymoon in the USA. Hopefully flying to SF, stay a week, then pick up a car and take a few days to drive down the PCH down to LA, where we'll stay another week. That's the idea anyway but it's an expensive one! Nice idea to wait a month or so though, and it'll soon pass!

I'm from Bolton but my fiance is from Hereford, so I moved to Hereford to live with him and that's where we're getting married too, in a place called Lyde Court, which is a big old rustic barn! How about you?

Llamastar... That JA dress is gorgeous! My friend has picked that for her wedding in September, I'm very jealous!

Hi ladies, I'm also an April 2014 bride Smiley smile

I have nothing booked yet, but that's because I'm planning a Vegas wedding and can't really book anything yet until the flights and hotel rooms are released one year before (almost there, the waiting is killing me!)

Almost booked the 'home reception' as they call it, as the venue over here for that is more likely to book up quicker than anything in Vegas.

Despite this lack of bookings, I do know pretty much everything I want to book, just have to wait a little bit longer. ANNND I do have my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses already so I'm not too behind schedule (hopefully!). I have been posting on TheKnot.com and there seems to be lots of April 2014 'Vegas Brides' who haven't booked anything yet thankfully!

Good luck with all your planning, looks like everyone is on top of things Smiley smile

That sounds like a nice honeymoon, going to a few different places!

We're both from essex, lived in the same place all ou lives and always said we would marry in essex but ended up at Hengrave Hall in Suffolk, the most beautiful venue we saw, fell in love with it straight away!

Meeting with my wedding planner tonight, I'm exhausted but I know as soon as she comes round I won't shut up - got to love someone who is willing to talk weddings all day long x

Hi ladies how's everyone getting on? I have slowed down a lot in the last month but picking up again now yay :-)

Oops forgot to add this, I have done:

Booked Venue - ceremony and reception.

Catering and drinks inc of venue.

    Booked TOG.

    Booked DJ.

    Booked hairstylist.

Provisionally booked hotel for us, family and close friends to stay in.

Made and sent save the dates.

    Got everything to make invites.

Younger SIL is going to do flowers.

Older SIL and MIL doing the cake.

Decided on the music throughout the day.

    Picked two readings for ceremony.

    Have gorgeous tiara.

    Got favours.

    Bought flip flops for evening.

    Bought white umbrellas.

    Giving notice early may.

Collecting little decor bits like scatter pearls, blue lace bunting etc, vase, signs etc.

Next is to get rings, going to Alba Rose in Essex next weekend so hopefully get them there. We had smooch come round but didn't fancy any of the rings.

Looking at wedding and BM dresses next too. Don't know where on earth I will get BM dresses from but found some good discount wedding dress places: wedding dress outlet shop in Bromley, Sarah's wedding exchange in Nantwich (10 minutes away from my dad's) and a place in Liverpool. I tried a nice one on in Monsoon, I liked it even though it's not what I was going for.

Also need to book MUA but can't decide - I like two but they are over budget, I haven't seen any in my budget that I particularly like.

I am planning to get married in April 2014, although we haven't booked it yet. We got engaged in February this year and have since had my heart set on getting married next year (I'm not good at waiting, lol). I have pretty much planned everything out in my head as you do and he is slowly starting to join in with me. OH likes to have everything meticulously planned out and budgeted for before he will even entertain an idea, complete opposite to me, but at least it wont bankrupt us... We said we will definitely start booking things when we get paid at the end of this month so hopefully we wont be leaving it too late for April next year. I have found what I think is the perfect venue and emailed them and they still have availability next April and they have a wedding fayre on Sunday 21st, so I've told him we're going! Hopefully this will get the ball well and truly rolling!

Feeling a bit under-organised now! I've booked the church and 'arranged' the venue (it's at my mums house so not much booking required!), booked the TOG and made my save the dates. I've got a lot of stuff planned in my head but not in practice...

Wow, everyone is way more organised than me it seems!

Our wedding is on 5th April and so far I've sorted the following:

Venue booked - includes ceremony, reception and catering

Registrar is provisionally booked and we're booked in to give Notice in a couple of weeks

Ordered my dress! Although I am having major wobbles that I may have rushed into it a bit. Tried on hundreds and didn't get that 'the one' feeling with any of them. I'm sure I'll love it again when it arrives...think I'm just impatient!

    Shoes bought.

I'm currently looking at tog and hair options but I've promised HTB I won't get too carried away with the planning and booking until we get back from our hols in June. Doesn't stop me looking though ?

My mum's also getting married next year so at least we can bore each other with everything!

We went to formally view our venue at the weekend, it was set up for someone's reception that afternoon and I could see us getting married there and OH finally looked excited too, yey. He has emailed the manager to ask if 25th April 2014 is still available and to pencil us in if it is, so I'm basically gonna be sat here twiddling my thumbs all day until he tells me their response. I put the finishing touches to my save the dates yesterday so now I just need to pop the date on when it's confirmed. I think I'm gonna drive him mad with my hyperactivity haha.
