Apparently my venue has a meeting with final numbers 8 weeks before the wedding. That's the 4th Feb for an April 4th wedding. Going to put RSVP deadline as 2 weeks before this at 24th Jan to allow for chasing up - and send invitations 8 weeks before at 28/29th November.

How does this sound? Hoping to avoid the xmas rush with this?

    Hello All!

I just got engaged on the 17th August abroad and now that we are home we need to start planning! If you think you're behind, we plan to get married on the 4th April 2015, it will be an English ceremony followed by and Indian (Hindu) ceremony (I'm English and my H2B (trying to dyscipher these acronyms!) is Indian) which means pretty much 2 weddings and so far we have everything to do! Good job we're both pretty organised but first stop is venue booking and registrar! Exciting times...congrats all! I'll be reading through this forum for ideas, so thank you!

I think this sounds ideal. I may have to copy you as my wedding is the day before yours.

I got 'officially engaged' last week. Have my nice sparkly engagement ring finally on my finger but planning wise on a lull. It will be next month before we really get things going with invites to order once we get a time for the legal paper signing. Still waiting to hear back from the priest regarding a meeting time to discuss the church blessing.

Lol not sure why the pic is sidways! oh well

Lovely ring Charlinc. I bet you felt annoyed telling everyone you're engaged but without a ring, I went a good 2 months from proposal to having it due to problems with the design etc. and I felt like a right div.

Aw man that would kill me waiting 2 months, I had to wait 2 days and I was ready to explode! Your so patient.

H2b and I are honeymoon shopping at present, we were going to wait until end of the year but we had a naff week so wanted to cheer ourselves up. I took on a stray cat from work, she was old and in kidney failure but we thought it would be nice to give her a few weeks/months of love. She passed away this week, I didn't realise how much I would miss her :-(

without sounding cold, back to the honeymoon......we looked at Santorini and decided yes, now we have settled on Mexico instead. So we are going to have 10 days in Mexico in May and then 5days New York and 5 days Florida in December. Very excited! We are off to get some quotes this weekend.

has anyone else booked a honeymoon and where are you going? Sorry if I've missed any prev posts about honeymoons on this thread

It was hard going, we told the important people, parents etc but they was sworn to secrecy aswell, my partner works away so we wanted to wait for him to be back so we could announce it together!

We have booked Egypt as a "familymoon" our honeymoon and 1st holiday all in one! we cant wait!

I know I'm probably far behind a lot of you but I'm super excited as this weekend we paid the deposit on our venue and our registrar is booked (we did only get engaged on holiday on the 17th Aug so I think we've done pretty well)!

Congrats to all! Quick random questions and sorry if these have been asked before I joined....given it is April is anyone planning to have some kind of shawl etc available if it is chilly, or just planning to make sure your dress is on show 100% of the time regardless? Smiley smile Also, when it comes to flowers, are people looking at what is in season or picking what they like and getting them sourced?

    Thanks in advance!

LOL, we are booking Egypt too (Sharm El Sheikh) but I keep changing my mind about which hotel to book! Currently between Savoy, stella di mare and four seasons. Only staying 5 days but really cant decide on the hotel!

Flowers wise I am having just a plain bunch of white tulips.

For the weather I have a wrap and a bolero to choose from if they are needed.

Pammy67 - my almost date twin - 7 months today for you!!!

we have booked a honeymoon to mexico, I'm so excited. Possibly more excited about this that the wedding day but shhhh don't tell mr Icklesal I said that ?

eqypt is amazing, we went in 2010 for 10 nights. We didn't explore out of our hotel other than a trio to Cairo and to see the stars at night in the dessert. Both trips amazing. The sea was warm and we saw a sea snake (que Sally squeeling a little).

ive got for a dusky pink rose and cream roses for bridesmaids. I wanted peonies or ranunculus but both just out of season and the roses I found were too beautiful to justify paying extra for my first choice.

i haven't got anything to cover my shoulders, I'm not sure what to do.

7 months for me today! Has spurred me on to get a few things done. So far this morning i have contacted our venue, photographer and caterer to firm some details up. I was awake early this morning for some reason so decided to use the time to get stuff done!

For those of you having dress alterations and having your hair and make up done, what are your time scales for booking them/trials etc?

Ooooh happy 7months, it's all becoming a bit more real now isn't it?

ive got my first dress fitting end of jan. I've spoken to my hairdresser who said to get in touch in January and we will sort a hair trial for when I have a dress fitting. Planning to arrange my make up trial for the same day too so that I can see it all together. I'm hoping the trials will be in February.

Hi, exciting times! just thought I would share a money saving tip for all you diy brides. I created my own wedding website so I have saved so much money on save the date cards, invites, envolopes and postage. I have put everything on our website to keep our guests informed of everything from venue map, hotels in area and even menus. I did mine with wedding hand. really quick and did I forget to say its FREE! wooo!

No not yet. I tried to get am appointment but it would seem they only cater to those who don't work! Looks like I'm gonna have to take a day of work for the sake of half an hour, bit peed off about it to be honest. I know giving notice is a big deal but Tnhey can only offer me a Monday or Friday 10.30 or 12 noon......grrrrrrrrr

Yes we have, we went on something like the 11th April this year! I rang up in March to book an appointment in April. It makes me sound a bit mental now but my H2B is in the forces and i was desperate to get a date during his Easter leave as he had been out of the country for a couple of months and i never know when i will see him again.

Does anyone know if both of us have to go when we go for our final registrar appointment? As far as i am aware, we go to give notice then go back again (minimum two weeks before the wedding) to speak to the registrar and tell them which version of the wording we want etc.

7 months yesterday for me too, eeeeh!

We go to give notice on 27th September, so a few weeks. It will seem SO real then I think, when everything is official! On one hand, I feel like I have lots done but on the other I keep thinking, 'must get more sorted'. Our friend is making our invites and she is putting together some samples for us to look at in the coming weeks so am very excited about that! We are waiting for our caterers to get back to us on prices and we are also in the process of finding a photographer!

    So exciting! Smiley laugh

I haven't even booked our legal ceremony yet never mind given notice. Oops! Also not sure if/when/where we are going on honeymoon. Originally we wanted Japan in the spring. The plan was to marry in August 2016 and do an initial 'mini-moon' then save up throughout Autumn and Winter then go to Japan for our proper honeymoon in April. Now we have brought the wedding forward to April next year I don't know what to do. I doubt we will be able to afford to go anywhere, certainly not Japan. We will certainly go one day though!
