April Brides......Where are you all?!!

helsbels35, 11 January, 2011 at 13:04 Posted on Planning 0 31

Hello April Brides!

Except for chrissy everyone else seems to of dissapeared??! Where are you all and get yourself out of hiding!!

Are we all set?? It is 11 weeks and 4 days till the big day for me and Il be honest Im not quite as organised as I had thought......ooops!

Ive still got the mens suits to sort, flowergirl dress and shoes, finalise exactly what my centerpieces are, ive still got lots of little bits left for myself including hair and make up, jewellery and any sort of shrug thing that I can't decide on, the dj to confirm, the menu to finalise, the church bits like order of service, rehersal etc.

I could go on but I don't want to scare/depress myself!!

Ive been using Mrs C's list template that she sent ages ago and it has been a god send so I can keep track on the spending and the to do list.

So where is everyone at? My invites went out last week which was exciting and surreal, made me realise that its my wedding (as if I didnt know this by now!)

Smiley laugh

    Hello date twin!

You're not alone, I still have loads to do as well! I need to make new lists of things that still need sorting. Our invitations have gone out but we are still waiting on a few replies, I will need to start chasing them in a week or so. Table decorations I think are sorted, but I am borrowing some bowls from my mum's friend which I plan to fill with Lego (that's our theme, I'm a big kid!) so I need to see those to make sure I have enough Lego. I have booked a hair trial for 22nd Jan and am just waiting on confirmation as the hairdresser is busy that day so not sure if she will have the time. We gave notice last week, so need to wait for the documents to come through then start planning our ceremony and readings. Men's suits, we are going to see what Debenhams are like this weekend and then we will decide where to hire from and book them. I also need to order the cake but we are having an M&S one so I can't do that yet!

I need to buy favours and make some activity bags for the children coming (thankfully only 3 of them!).

I want to start ringing booked suppliers to confirm the booking and see what information they expect and when, eg photographer, florist etc.

I am quite worried that my dress has not arrived yet, but don't want to ring the shop in case the lady thinks I'm hassling her! I think I can leave it one more week and then might phone her and see what's going on.

I'm sure there's other stuff I've missed too... it will come to me, otherwise it's not important!

Yay I knew I had a few date twins somewhere!

Ahhh good you sound quite similarly organised to me, thank god! i thought I was the only unorganised one haha!

Love the lego theme, are you doing shapes in the bowls?

Yeahh we are suit shopping into some high street places like next and debenhams and then deciding whether we buy them or just hire!

My dress has come in and ive tried it on very quickly just to see it, and it was beautiful but needs taking in on the waist and hips, i think the seamstress over did my measurements because it was quite airy around that bit .

I live in newcastle but getting married in hertfordshire and cambs so doing all the suppliers from a distance is proving quite tough.

Where are you getting married? Have you got a picture of the venue to flash, would love to see it Smiley smile

The idea of the Lego in the bowls is that people make stuff during the wedding breakfast, although with only three children attending I am not sure how much interest there will be! I may have to offer some sort of prize to the best model!

We are getting married in Rugby. Here are a few pictures:

    Hiii Naboo,

I knew there was someone else except chrissy but just couldnt remember your username!

Ah yes weve still got rings to do, god thank you for reminding me that! Im wanting a bespoke ring because of the diamond cut shape that the e-ring is.

    When do you get married?

My Oh is on the "wedding diet" which sounds strange for a bloke, but he wants to be in the best shape possible he says... mine is off and on diet that has phases haha

Dotcomm your venue is AMAZING!!!! what a beautiful location you have chosen.

Ahhh I think the lego theme sounds fun, is it something that is close to you and OH for that theme? I seem to remember from a previous post it was your Oh that was a big fan, or am I making that up??

Thanks hels Smiley smile It is a lovely venue, not too expensive, and every review of weddings there I've seen has been full of praise so I think we've picked a good one. It's also where Frank Whittle designed his jet engine - the ceremony room is the room he used to draw up his blueprints - and this is quite apt for me as I am an engineer working on parts for jet engines!

I am the Lego fiend in our house - the centrepiece to our living room is a Lego Millennium Falcon from Star Wars sat under a glass topped coffee table! OH doesn't mind though - his Christmas present to me this year was a Lego castle! There won't be loads of Lego involved on our day, just little bits here and there, like the bowls of lego on the tables, I have made Lego cufflinks for all the men, and here are our cake toppers and save the date magnets:

    Hi Helsbels

I get married on 19th April, keep thinking all is under control and then panicing lol! What is your e ring like, are you getting a shaped wedding ring? I want an antique ring but for it to fit against my ER would need it to be shaped so might just have them not fitting together and get what I want lol!

I love the mood board pics you posted we have same colours as you!

I designed the cake topper and magnets myself and bought the bits from Lego to make them - you can buy pieces if you know what you want. Lego do a "designed by me" program you can download which you can use to design your own lego sets. The cufflinks are just 2x2 lego plates attached to cufflink backs which you can get from ebay. The hard part was finding Lego that was the right colour!

Our colour scheme is very similar - it's sage green and ivory (my and my BM's dresses are Alfred Angelo ones, the colour we went for they call clover). My dress has some clover trim, and hers is clover with ivory trim. Flowers will be ivory roses and freesias with lots of greenery (and some funky looking thistle things my florist showed me that I can't remember the name of!) to match the colour scheme.

Im 9th April, do I have any date twins?

Ivites went out this week/ last week, seems so real now!

Final dress fitting today so excited.

Still got some little bits to do, and one biiig bit, the TOG, but I am starting to see TOGs now so that should be sorted by end of Jan.

I also bought some bridal undies from agent provocatuer today- well (hopefully!) I will only get married the once, so I thought why not ?

Got menu tasting towards the end of the month and John Lewis gift list this sat.

OOh so exciting, will now go consult my spreadsheet, which is somewhat more organised than my random ramblings!

Im not panicking, but perphaps that is just ignorance and I should be arrrgh!

I think Jan has made things seem very real, but there are lots of things that cannot be finalised til Jan-March time anyway, so Im using that to reassure myself ?

Hi everyone I'm an April bride too, 24th!

I thought everything was all under control & now the New Year is here I have started to panic lol!

I have done invites this week just got to start handing/sending them out. Men have their suit fittings Friday apart from our 2 boys who they will do nearer the time in case they grow! Dress is at the shop got my fitting on 25th Feb & am only having 1 flowergirl who's dress should be here Feb/March just need to get her shoes Feb time.

I need to sort out my hair as I have no idea what to do with it & there are NO wedding hair magazines about & google images is just so random it's useless!

I need to get my underwear sorted which for the day will just be a pair of spanx lol as my dress is quite tight fitting but will get something nice to change into!

I need to sort out music for the ceremony & walking down the aisle etc, my bouquet I need to finalise although the florist is booked & the centerpieces are sorted. Chair covers will need to be confirmed numbers & also need to book a meeting with the venue to sort out food & numbers etc.

Have done all the major stuff I think it's just details & bringing it all together I was kind of using xmas as a cushion like "we can't do that until after xmas" but now it is after xmas & i do have to do it lol!

Another date twin (triplet!) for April 9th ! I still have plenty left to confirm: videographer, band, dj, string trio / quartet for the ceremony, dress for BM, makeup and hair trials.. the list is massive. My invites still have not been finished so hoping to have them proofed by next week.

I live in Hong Kong, so will only be back in London for a week at the end of January to get everything done, then I am not back in UK til April 2nd, with just 5 days left to make sure all boxes are ticked. No pressure there then..

Due to have my dress fitting at the beg of Feb, I really am worried if I will fit in to it as I remember telling them to order it in a smaller size so I could diet in to it (um, that may not have worked out so well!)

Deep Panic is settting in. Good to hear other April ladies are much more organised than me !

    Yay, date twin! ?

I am reasonably organised but it's the little things that are stressing me out now ☹️ I've started worrying about my hair as I had a trial and was quite happy at the time but now looking back on the pics I'm less happy with it and I can't afford to pay for another trial so it'll just have to go 'all right on the night'!

Lots of other little things like seating plan, final fitting, bridesmaid fittings, photographer meeting, vicar marriage preparation meetings, finalising cake & flowers, sending out evening invites, etc to do. Hoping they will all fit in somehow!

    Good luck ?

Hi April brides; I'm getting married in this month too! ?

I can't belive how organised some of you are! Although I guess I do seem to fit into the "not stressed, but perhaps I should be" category - my mum and family seem to worry about things more than me and keep telling me I ought to stop being so laid back about it all! Oh well; what will be will be and all that! lol

So far we've done: venue booked, menu selected, church booked, DJ and band booked, florist booked and have chosen flowers, bought bridemsiad dresses, bought my dress, ordered suits and everyone has been fitted, hair and makeup artist booked, cars booked, bought shoes, seat covers booked,

Still to do: order cake, send out evening invites, choose centerpieces, make favours, table plan, order guest book and box etc, have dress fittings, have bridesmiad dress fittings, but hair piece for veil, organise music and church bits and pieces, choose a first dance song...this will be the hardest bit to organise of the whole wedding because me and h2b are the opposite in absolutely everything and can't agree on music!

I love looking at everyone else flashes and so have put my own below (if you're wondering about the Formula One bits and pices; it's because we're having a bit of an unusual teal/F1 theme!) ?

I'm here, 17th April, and stressing! Really good to see what everyone has left to do. we have lots of appointments to finalise things this month and next, but all going well really, saving the pennies is the hardest bit! I have 3 friends at work also getting married in April, it must be a good month! :-)
