Are these too similar? *dress flash* update page 2

My bridesmaids are wearing a very similar style of dress to mine, and i think it works really well.

The dresses you've posted are similar in style, but very obviously a different colour- so there's no danger of you 'blending in' with them or not standing out as a bride.

They are very similar. Could be a total winner or like you said, potentially detract from yours.. only you can decide for sure! I think the suggestion of you going in first before them might help though..

Hhmmmm....I'd probably be too much of a diva to have something so similar! I think they are lovely and it could work really well but I want to be completely unique on my wedding day - it might be the only time it happens! Bridezilla in da house!

Im another for far too similar!! it really depends on how you feel...you will always be the star of the show but i just think people will presume you ordered the same dresses but in different colours which i would hate! especially as im sure your dress costs more than the BMs? does the shop not do a shorter version of the BM dress with a higher up skirt or could you not ask about chopping the bottom off to make it a slim fitting dress but still with the flower detail? im clearly not a seamstress but there could be other options to keep the general shape but not too samey? x

My gut feeling is they are too alike BUT if you liek them there is a way round everything so I would say you go in first and take the shine!

I think they are too similar as well but if you like them and don't mind the fact that they are similar thn get them.

I love that you're linking them in, it'll look great in the photos. however i agree with the others, that dress is a bit much, try something similar but plainer?

Ok so I showed my sis (a BM) she says she really likes this. It's basically what some of you were saying about taking it up, the swirls would go and it would be a good colour, but I just think it looks cheap?

I wouldn't go for the first ones they are to simular, 2nd set on the left I like matches but yours sill have the wow. Last one still think it is to simular to yours.

But it is your wedding you have what you want!

Yes they are nearly the same dress, if you are ok with that then thats fine, personaly want my bm's to have a totaly different style dress to me. there all fine with it if you cant be a diva on your own wedding day when can you!?

I prefer the shorter one to the longer one, my sister tried on a similar one but instead of the swirls it was ruffled. She didn't like it and said she looked like a cake but I thought they looked quite nice. I don't think it looks cheap from the pic but it depends on the material as to whether it will look cheap. The best thing is to have your bridesmaids try some one and you'll have a better idea as to what they look like on and what they feel comfortable in.

I think the first one is far too similar, think when you are looking back at your photo's do you want to stand out as the bride or blend in.

The shorter version would be less similar, but personally I would want the bridesmaids dresses stand out because of how lovely they are and not be comparable to mine.

Thanks everyone. I can see now that it really isn't what you want on your big day! I just seen them and couldn't believe how similar they were, so thought it would either be a really great or really terrible idea!

I emailed them to my lovely mum and she sent me this back (she speaks a lot of wisedom lol)...

The dress is lovely, but its very much like yours, except for the colour, of course.

I think that this is YOUR special day, and that the bridesmaids shouldn’t be wearing anything too like yours.

YOUR dress is the most important, not theirs.

If you didn’t have the dress that you have, then maybe yes, but you have it, and its beautiful.

So no, I don’t think it would be a good idea.

That´s a really sweet e-mail from your mum! And I agree with what she says to be honest.

I would go for something that´s similar to your dress at the top but shorter. As the beautiful detail in your dress is mainly at the bottom, I think having similar BM dresses would detract from it.

I like the pink dress your sister suggested. It doesn´t look cheap in the photo, but I guess it really depends on how the colour and material look in real life.
