Are you a tee-totaller...

Pittabre, 22 August, 2010 at 12:20 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 17

If so how do people react to it? Until I live where I currently do people were always trying to peruade me to drink. In the current toen I live in there is a strong religious community that doesn't drink so I don't get harrassed about it, which is quite a pleasant change.

Not tee total, will maybe have a drink on special occasions or on holiday etc but don't tend to drink week to week, The last time I had a drink was at a masquerade ball and the time before that I think was about 2 years ago!

I'm not a tee totaller but I have plenty of friends who are. I don't get why you would try to get someone to drink who doesn't? It would be like someone trying to make me smoke when I don't. Odd!

I'm not a tee-totaller but the only occasions where I have alcohol are christmas and celebrations. I will very occasionally go out and buy a bottle of wine but only when I've been in need of a bit of indulgence.

Not a tee-totaller but don't really drink that much at all - only if i go for a night out or special occasions really. I tend to do most of the driving so i let OH have a drink as i'm not bothered and won't even have one if i'm driving.

Can I ask what made you decide not to drink? Alcohol forms such a big part of UK culture that it's quite a decision to make. I don't drink cos I'm pregnant but even now, when T has gone to bed I think "Yum, wine o'clock!" and then make do with Lilt.

I hardly drink at all now, but not a conscious "I'm never going to drink again" decision. What I have found since having children is that I can't drink anywhere near what I used to be able to without feeling drunk - unpleasantly drunk and get spectacular hangovers on measly amounts of alcohol. I seem to now bypass the drunken funny stage. Even the odd glass of wine makes me feel wretched the next day. So hardly ever have any.

I'm hoping to toughen up again one day!

I'm not a tee totaller. I have a few glasses of wine a week, usually a couple on Friday night and a couple on Saturday night, unless we're going out (rare) and I may have a few more.

    I've never smoked though.

Yes I am, it just happened really, I have never really enjoyed drinking so never do, some of Hs friends wives who really really like a drink have stopped inviting me out because I would be ready to go home after a meal about 12/1am, they tend to go back to one of their houses and drink right through to 5/6am, I can't do and don't really want to. My parents weren't big drinkers but my 3 sisters could all drink for England!!

My H2B doesn't drink, not through choice, he physically can't because of a medical condition. He says he misses drinking and I just can't understand it. He thinks it's odd that I don't want to drink alcohol. I think the last time I drank alcohol was May 2009 for my birthday, it just doesn't really interest me. Is that really odd? Cos I'm made to feel like I'm some kind of weird person. Apparently everyone needs a way to relax and kick back. I do that surfing the internet, listening to music or stroking my cats to be honest.

I've never smoked or done any kind of drugs either.

Neither of us drink very often. My parents go out every weekend and I grew up around drunken fights and arguments so I think that has put me off. If go out, which is a rare occasion nowadays, I will drink but H won't. Needless to say he is the nominated taxi driver for the night so that tends to go down quite well ?

My mother is an alocholic. I also got in to a very nasty situation when drunk and decided that I didn't want to follow my mothers path in any way. Sorry to be serious for once...

I am mainly because my mum has a drink problem and also because I am on medication.

I don't really miss it at all.

People do find it strange especially as I used to be a good drinker!

I just say I am driving or I don't really like it or I can't be doing with a hangover and 2 kids to look after.

I dont drink a lot, I dont really like it at home but that's also a personal one for me as my dad used to drink an awful lot and got really ill and in hospital last year.

Besides, every time I've drunk in the last 3 years I've ended up pregnant ?

I am not tee total, infact I have been drinking too much lately. I hate people that try to force other people. It's annoying.

I used to drink loads, but have cut down a lot recently. No means a tee-totaller but can happily not drink either.

My best friend is very frustrating as always EXPECTS everyone to drink. She nags and nags and have to end up snapping at her to stop.
