I dont fancy draggin mine behind me till I hit the carpet at church?? dont know what the etiquette is.

Mum said to me 'You do know how to walk in a train dont you??' Sure mum, Dot perkins and Top shop have been doing them for yearssss, WTF?????? Think she forgets I'm not on stage this time!

Not sure. From the house to the car probably, but just so I can put it in the car properly (what ever the proper way is?).

From the car to the church, the only vision I have at the moment is of it peeing down and me dad and BM's all holding umbellas and each others dresses up. Admittedly, that vision is probably due to the umbrellas that arrived yesterday. Thinking about it, I'll probably hold it up until we are in the church porch, then get the girls to straighten it out.

I'll be pinning it up the moment the photos are done and dusted though.

My dress doesn't have a train as such, but it is floor length so there's a chance it could drag on the floor if I don't stand up straight!

I'll be holding my dress up from the car to the venue though as I'll probably be wearing my ugg boots. Cannot drive in heels! I reckon hold it up. You don't want to catch it on anything!

Get the bridesmaids to hold it up until the second you start walking then lay it out behind you.......

Could you not pin a sheet around your waist today and practice walking around in it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Teehee

    Not long now eh?

I did when I needed to move quickly outside yes but mostly just let it flow...

The first photo was me and my Dad walking up to the church so yes I carried it then but from then on I mainly let it flow, I paid for it so wanted to show it off, it's not annoying and I was actually surprised nobody ever stood on it!!

Have a wondeful day on Saturday!! I cannot wait to see your photos xxx

My Dad carried mine for me before I went to the church as I was holding my flowers (in the photos he's holding it all scrunched up in his big bear-like paws) after the service I couldn't give a monkeys. I was swishing all over the churchyard! Then on a bridge over the Water of Leith for our photos! The train is black but the rest of it was fine....it still cleanable!

During the romantic alone portrait session, we show the groom how to carry it, so the bride can hold her bouqet if she wants. But during an outdoor drinks receptoin, the bridesmaids are there to serve, lol. Put them to work. Word ov caution tho, I have seen lots of people trip over trains (guests and such) in indoor spaces that just aren't meant to hold alot of people milling about with drinks. So I would hold it up then too, or go on and bustle it. I have seen rips happen with the more delicate lacy and tulle dresses. Same goes for long veils,, I love them to bits,, but during the walkabout talking to guests,, you need to hold on it.

Good thread! I didn't appreciate how much of a train I'm going to have until they started altering the length of my dress. I think I'm probably going to be a bit paranoid at first and carry it everywhere but I'd like to just let it flow because it looks lovely. I'm not having any bridesmaids to help either!

I'm pretty fortunate in that we're having the ceremony and reception all under one roof so there's no need to go outside at all unless we want to. The dress shop said they're going to put a little wrist tie on though so I can hook it up to my wrist (I assume that's to help with the train??).

IMHO I will be letting mine flow when I'm inside and lifting outside when walking about for pics, my train isn't that long anyway but people could still stand on it so need to be careful ?
