Are you following the tradition..

catnor, 9 October, 2014 at 10:26 Posted on Planning 0 19

Are you following the tradition, Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue?

if so what are you using. I get married next Sat and have only just thought about this.

I'm sort of cheating a bit, my old and borrowed will be H2B's Mums pearls as she passed away a couple of years ago so wanted something of hers included (I may also sew her wedding ring into my dress with some blue thread), New will be my dress and blue, either the thread or I'll paint my toenails blue.

    Kind of :-/

im borrowing my moms bracelet, going to pain my toenails blue, I'm sure mom has said something about an old brooch she sewed into her dress and my dress is new. Not feeling the penny in my show though I can't walk in them as it is! X

Yes. I have tons of old things (bag and jewellery are vintage and I'll be wearing my necklace that I wear all the time), tons of new (dress, probably shoes, etc), and blue embroidery in my underwear. The borrowed I haven't sorted yet, but I'll probably get something from my mum. And I got a silver sixpence for in my shoe.

No. I had something old (my Grandma's necklace), something new (a bracelet OH bought me for the day). Didn't have anything borrowed or blue. But I'm not one for tradition!

Blue is the diamond on my nails.

    Old I dont have

Borrowed considering my mama's wedding ring which would also be old but I don't really wear much jewellery

    New wedding dress etc

Yes, I plan to. New will be the obvious - dress/shoes etc. Borrowed I think will be my mum's tiara that she wore for her wedding. Old, I'm not sure yet. Maybe something from my Nanna.

For blue, I have a couple of ideas I'm choosing between, or I may do both:

I have my dress which is new, my borrowed will either be my grandma's necklace or my charm bracelet and my old will be my other grandma's earring & hatpin which are being incorporated into my bouquet...that also has some blue flowers in (to match the bridesmaid's dresses)

    I did it

Old: carried in my purse a four leaved clover I found at primary school

New: a locket (pictures of my grandparents in)

    Borrowed: my veil

    Blue: painted my toenails

My MIL insisted I should but tbh it was just one more thing to organise so I didn't bother/forgot in the end.

Nope. Did it first time round, complete with sixpence in my shoe, and it didn't help that marriage so why bother this time!

These wedding shoes by Charlotte Mills that I blogged about last week tie the 'something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue' tradition all into one! And, each shoe contains its very own lucky sixpence too!

    They are amazing!

Sort of - the old is my grandmas pearls she left them to me when she died quite a while back. All my outfit is new. My engagement ring is a blue diamond. I haven't got anything borrowed yet????? (ANy ideas??????). I also found a sixpence in my future mother in laws house and asked if I could have it for my shoe.

My new is my dress and my blue is some tiny earings i will be wearing in my second and third ear piercings.

I really struggled with my borrowed and old so i am kind of cheating..... my Father passed away in 2008 and we are getting married on what would have been his birthday, so i am 'borrowing' and 'old' tie pin of his to hold the ribbon on my flowers.

I borrowed perfume from my bridesmaid - it was one of the best things I ever did as now, whenever I smell it (I bought a bottle of it myself after the wedding), it reminds me of my wedding day and nothing else!
