I was looking at the local brides today.....wondering what our photo would look like if we asked the paper along??? We could always put in our own photograph of course but what are you doing?

We didn't appear in the local paper but we were featured in a wedding magazine a year later - I wasn't sure about it at the time but it's a really nice keepsake, especially as we still haven't sorted out a wedding album despite being wed for 3 years this year and it being fully paid for ?

I will put our photo and report in the local paper. I still have the local paper with my first wedding in it in 1977! It's funny to look at it - the prices of houses and cars back then are a right laugh.

Get your photos in the paper - then keep it. So good to look back on.

To sort out our wedding album?!

Initially it was because we loved all 550 photos so much we just couldn't decide on 50 for the album, we got it down to 300, then 200, then 100 and then I gave up ? We've got a lovely book of proofs and all the hi-res images on CD so I can look at them if I want, TBH I'm too scared to email our poor photographer now it's been so long! Although it seems like such a waste to have paid for an album we don't have - maybe I'll pluck up the courage to email tomorrow!

Our photographer sent us some forms for the local papers - don't know if we'll make it in though.

I hope we do - my Nan will love it!

Ask the paper to come along? Don't you just send them a pic after the event?

Depends... ive seen the paper togs turn up and ask myself 'who asked them????' thinking it musta been a parent who organised it. Our local paper started doing a 'wedding of the week' thing so think I might like to put that in lolol but it depends on the photos!!

Go on Lil, get that album put together! Smiley smile

I thought/think that the couple or their family send the photo in, rather than the paper sending a photographer out. That's why they normally credit the photographer in the little "Jennifer Taylor, of New Road, Anytown, married Michael Hunt of Old Road, Anothertown, at St Peter's Church followed by a reception at the Posh Hotel on 1st April 2009, photo courtesy of Flash Photography" write up.

I hadn't really considered it, I'd be surprised if our parents don't do this though.

Ahhh see our paper does a page spread of brides with their names and where froms.....all taken by paper togs. (same daft poses etc) the ones by their own photogrpahers are usually a few weeks after the event....or from abroad.

Yeah, we'll be putting our pic in - i think our photographer will do it for us.

Why not ring up the local paper and ask them what the story is about arranging them to be there....or if they mind you sending your own photo in. You could get your BM to ring for you if you wanted....?

Our paper usually takes a few weeks to get the pictures in, depending if it's a busy wedding time or not!

My mum was desperate for us to do this. I'm so glad I stood my ground and said NO WAY ?

Personally, I could think of nothing worse than being in the local paper gawping at people as they ate their breakfasts.<shudder>

I have no regrets at all.
