Nope....it was too expensive to get thrown around lol! Plus I don't really see the point as nothing else in our wedding is remotely traditional ( no offence meant)

Yes! I want to do this. I don't think many people do it any more but I think it's a lovely idea. I'm going to do it while we're doing photos, after the service and before the wedding breakfast.

Im not sure, im going to have a small bouquet of artiicial flowers which wont be as pricy as real flowers but im planning on attching a locket to it with a photo of my dad in!

Throwing the bouqet isnt something id really thought about as i think its quite an american idea.

I think at the end of the day t will depend how much ive had to drink on the day! he he!!

My mum is making my bouquet and bridesmaids using silk flowers and we have decided to make a bouquet with the left over flowers (hopefully not too mix mashed!!) for me to throw cas i do like the idea.

Im not sure when im going to throw mine though but think its later in the evening, traditionally it was when the bride and groom were leaving for the honeymoon

Yeh must admit I haven't seen many weddings where they have done it lately. Sounds silly but it is the part of the day I have always pictured.

I was torn between after the service before wedding breakfast or when we leave ( i would really like to leave and get waved off ) - think i may be more traditional than i realised after writing that lol!

I'm not throwing mine as it's very expensive. And I hate the thought of everyone scrambling to catch it as I've seen it turn well nasty!

I'm going to have a 'stunt' bouquet that I'm going to throw as I'm having my real one preserved.

The 'stunt' bouquet will be kept on the wedding cake table as a decoration until I throw it.

Ooh how fabulous. What a great idea. I like the idea of doing it later now you say that cos there'll be more guests won't there...........

I'm having artificial flowers so don't have to worry about preserving them but I have no idea what I'd do with them if I kept them so I'm not precious about not throwing them.

Ive also read about the groom removing the brides garter and throwing it to the male friends. I think this is an american thing. But will any of you be doing this?

It's an old tradition (British as well as American!) that seems to be disappearing over the years, probably because of the price of bouquets now. When I was little, every Bride threw their bouquet but with so many people now living together, ( which was considered shocking and unheard of in the 60's and early 1970's ️) it seems to have lost it's relevance now! For those Brides who would like to throw, go for a bouquet that will withstand being thrown such as a hand-tied. Larger bouquets which are wired or made on a bouquet holder can really hurt someone if they get hit in the face with it and would probably end up wrecked in the process as these types of bouquets aren't really meant to be thrown around. Pressing a flower from the wedding bouquet was also something that was quite often done. I pressed a rose from my bouquet and still have it now 27 years later. It's a lovely momento to look back on.

I have done a number of Toss bouquets for Brides in the past who want to keep their bouquets. Just a smaller version of their own bouquet or even a single flower to throw.

Don't forget, no matter how much you pay for it, it won't last very long and they soon start to look a bit sad.

My friend's cost £145 and she threw hers - it didn't budge!

I threw mine (I paid £60 for mine and again - it didn't budge!) - but to all the ladies, not just the single ones - I brought that part of the tradition in to the 21st centruy. I was off on honeymoon after the wedding so it would be dead by the time I got back.

My friend caught it (one of the few single ones there!) and she was soooo chuffed! She took it home and stuck it in a vase and was very happy. It's a great memory for her too!

I am throwing my bouquet, I spoke with my florist and she is making me a small bouquet of long stem roses to throw. I like the idea of throwing it, but I like the idea of keeping it to get it preserved.

I went to a wedding a few years ago and the bride threw hers it was good fun and had people running up to catch it. However, one of the aunts and bridesmaids got a little too heavy handed and wanted to catch it and the whole thing exploded on the dance floor. Everyone was covered in petals. The bride had wanted to keep some of it but couldn't. Hence why I'm having a "throwing bouquet"

I also had a stunt one, as I had another purpose for mine.

One word of caution, at my friends wedding the venue expressly forbid her to throw her bouquet 'for health and safety reasons'

She did it anyway (and threw it extra hard, because she was so incenced by that)

    Hi the Future Mrs R,

Just thought I would let you know about a tradition that we have in Zimbabwe, which I am sure must originally be English...

After the first dance, we throw a Bouquet (a simple one - not the actual bouquet, which is too precious and expensive), and then the bride climbs up on a chair, helped by her husband of course, who then (much to the delight of all the single males) gets to feel his new wife's lovely legs as he removes the garter, which he then throws to all the single males!

The bouquet catcher and the garter catcher are then invited to perform the second dance!

It can be great fun, the cause of much mirth and also a bit of light-hearted match making!

Hope you have a great wedding and look forward to seeing lots of bouquet throwing photo's!

    Lara

I've only been to a couple of weddings, but neither of them had bouquet throwing. I did think about it briefly and wonder why they didn't do it but then totally dismissed it from my mind!

Until...we went to view Cooling Castle Barns and the coordinator who was showing us around took us to the dj balcony bit and h2b said it'd be a great place to throw the bouquet!

I think he likes the idea of me throwing the bouquet more than I do. I think it'd be a nice thing to do, not too fussed either way yet, but then again I haven't thought about it enough!
