Are you having an order of service?

nikinoodle, 18 May, 2011 at 16:09 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi,

Wasn't going to have an order of service but now having second thoughts.

Just wondered how many people are having them.

Thanks

If you're having a religious service most ministers will insist on it. I doubt I'd bother for a civil service unless you are requiring the involvement of your guests.

If I was just having a civil ceremony then no I wouldn't.

However i'm having a chapel blessing which requires one as two hymns on to be sung.

If you didn't want to do an Order of Service as such why do like a little brochure to put inside your invites to give guests some info about the day.

We got some Order Of The Days from VP as they worked out really cheap and we thought it would be nice for the guests to keep.

    Hey,

I wasn't going to have an order of service as i wouldnt know where to start! I typed "order of service, wedding template" into google and found free templates, all i had to do was download and fill in my details and choices of songs. job done!

We're having them - almost ready to go, just waiting for a few final bits of information before I print them nearer the time.

They consist of a map of the venue, a timetable for the day so people know what's happening when and where they need to be, plus the full read-through of our ceremony plus the readings etc for our blessing service.

Necessary? Probably not. A nice keepsake for some? Probably. Worth doing myself for minimal cost? Definitely.

An Order of the Day makes sense if you're adding other things in but an Order of Service for just a civil ceremony seems a bit like overkill to me.

Yes, but ours runs to 8 pages as it is a full communuion service.

And doesn't include any information on the Bridal Party (like a cast list) because personally I hate those! My mum is my mum....!
