Are you supplying transport 4 guests between venues?

Mrs Bass, 26 October, 2010 at 11:26 Posted on Planning 0 12

Our venue is a 5 min drive from the nearest Premier Inn. we are assuming that the majority of guests who travel will stay here (we are going to see if we can get group discount)

unfortunately its not exactly walkable as the venue is up a long, winding drive and they would need to cross a duel carriage way! I am also dreading numerous taxis trying to get up and down!

we are estimating approx 30 guests will stay at the PI so we are considering supplying a coach to transport them to the venue and back.

we have got a quote for the return journey inc VAT for £200.

I would love to have a retro coach but im thinking that will be a wee bit more costly!!

I was just wondering if anyone else is doing this or leaving them to their own devices!

I'd leave everyone to their own devices - not everyone will want to leave at the same time, for example.

I have enclosed taxi numbers in our invitations as we just can't afford thransport for everyone. Only invited close friends and family so they know we're on a tight budget

We have arranged a coach to take people home after the dance. Lots of our friends and family will be traveling 26 miles. Its costing us £150.

They can get themselfs there, drive or public bus and collect their cars the next day.

I think in that situation I would book a couple of minibuses and tell guests what time they'll be leaving and whether they want to use them or not. They can pay for them themselves, much as they would a taxi. A friend did this for their wedding and it worked really well.

Hi - I have a coach booked to take all a large majority of my guests to my venue as it is a bit of a trek from home.

I don't have 2 diff places to take em, but the coach gets them there and takes them home at the end. People had the choices to ask for a return of single. When I put this on the rsvp I states they would be informed of the cost once I had the total amount of people requiring transport.

For a coach taking 50ish people at my disposal for the whole day I was charged £300 (I live in Essex in case your up north it may be cheaper) so it will be roughly £6each! Not bad price I reckon.

We had coaches for the guests at the church to take to the hotel (40 min drive away) and it cost 185..... we then had a mini coach to pick guests up for evening and then a big coach to take them all back to the city.... think we paid 385 in total... it was appreciated though!

Ive just mentioned it to my mum who said "leave them too it, plus you dont want everyone leaving at the same time"

to be fair, its only about 30 guests who are likely to stay at the hotel, i think they would appreciate not having to work out who is driving, who gets the car in the morning etc.

my one concern is that it will become an additional hassel finding out who wants to get the coach and managing it on the day etc, obviously i would give the on day management to an usher, its just that i work in events an know the hassell of arranging coaches for ppl.

if i do go ahead and just do one bus to the venue and one returning, then on the invites with the accomadation info, do i mention a coach is booked if you are staying at tis venue andstate the times?!

    Thanks ladies!!

    With our invitations;

I included a little postcard that I had made requesting to know if they required as bus from the church to the venue and from the venue back to town...

they wrote their names and ticked what option they wanted.....this was sent back with their rsvp.

I then wrote a list of eveyrones names and a guest offered to do a roll call before the bus set off.

it was soooooooooooooo easy to organise and they all had a right laugh on the buses apparantly....

Oh and on a pals wedding info sheet, she had that 2 minibuses would be leaving the venue and be running at 15 min intervals. so everyone had to make sure they were ready to leave and waiting for the bus...... worked out just fine!

Yes we are arranging minibus taxis, this is due to a large number of people training it down from edinburgh, and my uncle and grandad and companion are flying in especially for the wedding, we will also be getting a minibus back to the premier inn as it is the most convenient hotel - we have had a quote of about £150 and plan to ask the guests to put what they feel is reasonable in a envelope....and the taxi firm will just invoice us later....
