Are you taking a bag...?

Stephie, 17 September, 2015 at 12:55 Posted on Planning 0 21

I've seen quite a few brides on here flashing pics of their bags for the day. My bag never leaves my side and I can't go anywhere without my "essentials", but I wasn't going to take one for the wedding day?

I'm worried now I might need one, but what are you taking with you? I'm thinking phone can be looked after by mum or the BMs, I don't think I'll need any money and make up etc can be left in the room if I need to go and touch up...

I am having one. My Mum will hold it during the ceremony for me. In it I shall have my phone, tissues, lippy, engagement ring (to go back on after ceremony) safety pins and anything else I think I might need. Don't want to be running back to the hotel room every time I want something and also don't want to fill my guests bags with my stuff; I'm too self sufficient for that.

I had one which was stored in the corner of one room. Gave it to my MIL when she dropped off my dad and picked up my mum from the hotel room I was getting ready at. She took it to our venue and put it away for me. I kept my spare pair of shoes in it, phone, makeup and some money etc.

Unfortunately it was the time of the month for me on my day (sorry, TMI !) so I had to take a little clutch bag for personal items but also put in lippy, phone, small purse and hotel room key ! I did find myself misplacing the bag all evening cos I kept putting it down or giving it to someone to look after and then forgot where it was!

If you don't really need one then I wouldn't bother ?

Phone? Why would anyone need their phone? ??

I'll just be turning up as I am, no bag. I'm not one for touching up make up anyway and I won't need it for anything else. Have seen a few pretty bags but I'd never buy one for wedding day

I had one. I had makeup, phone, tissues, emergency stuff like safety pins, and some mints. We used facebook to announce to everyone we knew (who wasn't a guest) that we'd got married, so we needed our phones to take a pic to post!

I was thinking about this today too. I'll probably have one but not carry it or keep it on me, our Events planner said she would show me where I can keep it safe on the day. It's only going to have my inhaler and lipstick so I was just going to get a clutch type size X

We're staying at the venue, but I'll need money, tissues and my room key, so I might have a small clutch bag somewhere. I could give all that stuff to OH, but don't want him to ruin the line of his suit by stuffing things in his pockets. I probably won't bother with any makeup - I'm getting changed between the wedding breakfast and evening, so can touch it up then.

I've bought a clutch just in case but not sure what I'm going to put in it yet. Tissues and mints, who knows what else. I am planning to use it again for the formal nights on our cruise :-)

Hmm quite a few good tips here too! I think I'll just keep my bits and bobs in the bride's room (venue has a locked room for me). Didn't event think of mints! OH would have to deal with a coffee/prosecco kiss ?

I've bought myself a pretty little beaded clutch bag that I will give my mum to keep safe for me. I'll probably keep the lipstick I'm wearing, mints, tissues and my phone in it.

I wasnt planning on having a bag to be honest - we are staying at our venue the night before and also the night of the wedding so can pop to the room if i need to although don't suspect I will.

Anything I need to buy I'll put on the room so hoping we wont need cash as such.

I've been to lots of weddings and I'd say 50% have bags so it really is down to personal preference

I'm going to have to take one as I need to take medication during the day and need to keep it close. Me and my 4 BMs are planning to hit the January sales to look around for bags, shoes and jewelry so that all the BMs match and that they match my choice too as much as possible

I am taking one! I bought it ages ago and am completely in love with it. When I told my bridesmaids they all said I was mad and I wouldn't need one and everyone else can carry stuff for me. But if I have stuff on the day I'd like to have it with me! I can't wait to use it.

I usually take a handbag with me everywhere (recently forgot to take a little one with me for the evenings on holiday and felt naked without one!) but I'm going to try and go without on our wedding day - the only thing I'd really need is powder for my nose (oily skin). I'll be leaving my phone at home - it's usually glued to my hand so will be good to turn it off and leave it in a drawer for one day.

I'm planning on taking a small one as I'm bound to need a tissue! Also blind as a bat these days without my glasses so want those to hand as well :-) Will give it to a friend during the ceremony and then stash it somewhere else in the room!

I'm going to have an evening bag with me but I'll only use it at the evening do. My bridesmaids and I are planning to use a tote bag between us that we can ask the venue to stash for us, so we can bring our flats, makeup for top-ups etc.
