Are you transporting your guests??

almostmrsStimpson , 25 July, 2014 at 17:39 Posted on Planning 0 6

Are you guys providing any transport for your guests? I'm probably going to book a taxi for my grandad and a few others not in my bridal party but will be at my house on the morning of the wedding so they can leave just before me.

But what about getting from the church to the reception venue? OH is of the opinion that they are all adults and are capable of getting a taxi by themselves. But most of his family drive whereas most of mine dont? Dont really have the budget for a bus etc but feel a bit mean leaving them to fend for themselves. Its about a 10 minute drive to the reception.

You could ask those with cars to help those without? Your photographer may also be willing to take a couple of guests over too.

We're not as most people are local or staying local. And the registry and reception are a 5 min walk from eachother and only a 5/10 min drive from my house.

Iv never been to a wedding where transport has been arranged.

I think if your expecting your guests to drive to the middle if know where then maybe get transport. You could always offer to pay half per person as if they drove they would pay fuel anyway and if they got a taxi they would pay.

We are putting on two coaches as the venue is 45 mins from my hometown and also from my OH's.

I have put on a bus for guests to the wedding venue, then as we are having night time somewhere else the bus is picking them back up at 630pm to take them there. Gave them the choice to get the bus and there are a few making there own way there. Wasn't expensive for a bus

We aren't which hasn't gone down too well with OH's family! Mainly because they want to drink and don't want to pay for a hotel room - not because they can't drive. I think it is a nice touch if you can afford it but I certainly wouldn't expect it as a wedding guest.

I've only been to one wedding that did this. It is a nice touch but we aren't going to, it's a fairly short drive and as there won't be any drinks at the Abbey guests can drive and then drink at the venue if they want to.

Yes as there is no accommodation in the village where we are getting married apart from a very small hotel which has been booked out by the bridal party. so we are putting on a bus from the nearest travel lodge.

most people will have spent a lot on flights/trains from various parts of the UK plus a couple of nights in a hotel and taxis to from the airport/train station. felt a bit mean to then expect them to pay for even more taxis to and from the venue. public transport is pretty non existent where I'm from.
