Are your decorations down yet?

Katchoo, 2 January, 2009 at 20:10 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 19

At first it started with H wanting to take the tree down so we could vacuum the sitting room properly (we bought a brand new Miele today as our old vacuum cleaner packed up over Christmas). It ended with H removing all the furniture from every room in the flat systematically so we could deep-clean each in turn. My flat is now sparkling and I think I've done my back in.

As much as I have enjoyed this Christmas, it does feel good to get the place back to normal again.

Yep - ours came down yesterday as I needed to make room for my birthday cards on the mantle, so the garland went and tree followed.

We're doing it on Sunday along with lots of other dull chores. The weather is supposed to be better tomorrow so we'll head out all day with the dog and make the most of it and then stay in and get everything tidied up before H goes back to work on Monday.

Yes all ours came down yesterday. All the furniture was put back in its rightful place as once again my H bought a tree that was far too big for the living room, but he loves it bless him.

So we too are back to normality, although the tree was pretty this year so i was sad to take it down

Not yet, but I'm tempted. I might start tonight whipping down the cards and the ornaments on the mantlepiece, and the tree will definitely come down over the weekend.

Ours tree isn't down yet but the cards are. I was thinking of taking it down but MrB has no work next week and will be at home bored so thought I would leave it for him to do on Monday.

Yes, ours came down today. there wasn't much up anyway - some lights and baubles on the yukka plant and a few bits on the mantelpiece. they went up on the 22nd and that's plenty long enough for me.

I normally feel a little sad taking them down but they are just in the way this year. We'll be taking hem down on Sunday and having a good tidy of the livingroom before back to the real world on Monday.

Nope - but I want them gone. Mr Orly has said he'll take them down on 12th Night - and if I want it done beforehand, then I need to do it myself.

I normally leave them up until 12th night but I don't want to be faffing around with them once I'm back to work.

And besides, the new fridge freezer was delivered this afternoon and the place needed vacuuming and floor washing after the delivery man so i thought I'd do a big job and get the tree down before doing the cleaning.

The place does look better now.

Think I'll take mine down on Sat or Sun. The tree is drying out and dropping needles now!

We'll take them down this weekend. I'm looking forward to having a less cluttered house to be honest.

Ours will be coming down tomorrow, i was hoping to get down today but we were out most of the day and by the time we'd got back our outside lights had come on and they looked really pretty in the apple tree so i thought i'd leave them one last night.

I've really enjoyed decorating the house (it's our first Christmas here) and it does look lovely but at the same time i want to give things a good hoover and going over so it's going to be nice to have a little normality for the weekend before we go back to work on monday.

Also our local garden centre is having a half price houseplants/pots sale and i'm keen to pop up there tomorrow afternoon and pick up some new bits and pieces for the porch....which is currently being engulfed by the Christmas tree!

I've started taking the cards down. I can't wait for it all to be gone and we can get back to normal. Think I will get most of it done over the weekend.

I have done mine tonight, my front room feels so much bigger already. I do miss having it up though.

Mine came down on Tuesday 30th December. After Boxing Day they just seem kinda tired to me; a bit like the dregs of the January sales. I normally put them up quite early this year, but was working away for part of December, so they went up later than normal.

My cards are all stashed in a neat pile ready to be snipped into gift tags - I love doing this!

Oh gawd yes. We took ours down on New Year's Day. I hate having them hanging about it just seems so dull. House looks much better for a good clean and lack of decs.

Ours came down yesterday, I can't wait for the boychild to go back to school and Mr Hole to go back to work now (both on Monday), so I can get back in my routine and the house totally back to normal. When they're both here I feel lazy and don't do as much, which is ridiculous as there's normally a hell of a lot more to do when they're around ?
