Arghh!!!! Does anyone else have this problem????

BrogstarBride, 20 October, 2012 at 21:46 Posted on Planning 0 10

Im so annoyed right now, I can now see why people get so stressed and worked up about wedding planning. So my Colour scheme is PINK, Hot pink infact, Because thats what I want (And my OH of course!) And its MY wedding and its my favourite colour end of lol.

I have 5 bidesmaids. 2 older ones, and 3 little cute children Smiley smile

I have just asked one of my older bridemaids (13 year old teenager) if she could work out what size dress she would have in the dress i have chosen. (A dress I like and I want by the way lol) Well she has told her mum (Who rang me as she is my stepsister) And has said she likes the dress style but doesnt like the colour!!!! Well im sorry but im not going to change the colour of my wedding just because some teenage girl doesnt like the colour of the dress!! Her mum then went on to wind me up even more by saying she thought i would have chosen something more simple, classy and not harsh!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so wound up right now im sipping on my lovely glass of rose Smiley smile lol

xx

Ah thats so frustrating! my neice is pretty easily pleased, although she asked for a long dress as she has a birth mark on her ankle which she is self concious about - i am happy for her to have a long dress Smiley smile she did say she likes pink, so i was worried when i shwed her a blue dress! but she loved it

i guess thats the perks of having 1 bidesmaid Smiley laugh xx

That's frustrating! I do think it's fine and dandy for the bride to dictate the colour of the bridesmaids' dresses, even though I gave mine the task of choosing for me (out of a few options, anyway).

Are you have the little ones in white/cream flower girl dresses? Because if it were me, I would give this 13 year old the choice between the hot pink older girl dress or of white baby dress and see what her reaction is.

And as for your step sister, well.. she can take her unnecessary opinions elsewhere!

Oh, but I'm also with JoJo in that I think it would be nice to have alternating colours, or have a more neutral colour with the hot pink sash. But then, I'm not choosing hot pink for a reason!

I envisioned these issues so I just picked loads of dresses and let them pick what they wanted. TBH, my sister and SIL are gorgeous and will look lovely, but I don't care that much what they look like on the day. I said they can accessorize however they like. I'm far too laid back for my own good, me.

Im with you here my MOH has already said "why am i having black as my colour scheme she wears black everyday blah blah blah" and "i dont want a strapless dress, or a short one" and "i dont want you to order them online i want to try my dress on first, oh but im not going to pay for it im still expecting you to pay for it"!

Why do people always have to get their bit in? if they dont want to wear it they dont have to be a bridesmaid thats what im telling mine when it comes to it

I had hot pink, hot pink and more hot pink!

My sister was my bridesmaid and hated it, but graciously wore it because it was what I wanted.

Perhaps offer her the chance to step down if she doesnt like the colour? Least then she has the option, youll soon find out if it bothers her that much.

I think the thing is she's thirteen, I was a bridesmaid at that age and looking back was a terror. I refused to have flowers or the Back of my dress like the others and hated the flat shoes. My aunt compromised my dress had a bow and was allowed to wear my platform shoes after the photos. I'm not saying you should have to compromise but 13 year olds are not the most rational, maybes speak to her yourself and say you really love the colour but you understand and don't mind if she changes for the evening, chances are she won't bother changing.
