I heard a Christmas song on the radio yesterday, it upset me greatly. From Sunday people can be as festive as they like but not before!

(One house on our estate has had decorations up for at least 2 weeks).

The rule in my house is no Christmasness til after my Birthday which is December 8th. So tree etc goes up on the 9th (hangover depending)

With excitable children, there's no way Christmas can wait until December in this house.

I started putting my decorations up last night. C likes to have them up for his Birthday (2nd Dec), but due to the hitched meet, they are going up slightly earlier this year.

I finished my shopping around September time.

I literally feel panicky when I read about people who are only just starting.

I've got the Christmas candles out - and hung up advent calander and stocking. The rest will have to wait until I get the decs from my mum on the 7th. So considering it's me, I'm doing not bad (and restraining myself)

Advent is Advent. A particular season in the church's calendar of preparation for Christmas. Still not Christmas!

I asked H to get the decs out of the loft last night, he won't and it will probably take at least a week of nagging for him to get them.

I think we're getting our tree on the 7th this year.

I work in retail so we start planning for Christmas in February - but don't start selling things for it from September (with decorations for sale from end of October). It means I get really excited for Christmas a bit too early.

I don't think home decorations should be put up before December 1st though - I usually aim for two weeks before Christmas day, but I'm working extra hours this year so will get mine up on the 9th then down again on New Years Eve (I like to start the year afresh, Christmas was last year).

This is my first Christmas as a Christmas and I'll start whenever I damn well please ?

That being said, I can't really decorate this place in France... and we're only going to be home for 3 days before we leave for Canada, so we're not even getting advent calendars this year ? Bonus, though is that my mom always has a massive lovely real tree (none of this fake tree bs you brits seems to love!) and decorations EVERYWHERE, so I don't have any of the work of putting them up or taking them down- I just have to wait until 17th Dec to enjoy them.

In all seriousness though I don't mind talking about Christmas before December but I don't think decs should go up before December

I'm normally super Christmassy and it's not unusual for me to be finished late September/early October. But my friend and I had a rule that we would play no Christmas music before December 1st so we wouldn't get sick of it.

This year I was a Scrooge because of the whole work situation and wanted Christmas cancelled! I came to my senses though and I've done my shopping and wrapping and it was all finished last week. It makes me nervous when people haven't started thinking about it by now. I almost broke my rule as I was gutting my living room before we put the Christmas decorations up and I found a Christmas cd!

we put our tree up on the 3rd last year (early even for me!) but I actually loved it so we are putting it up this Sunday together. I bought a Christmas countdown snowman today so I'm definitely feeling in the Christmas spirit. I only have some tablet, marshmallow and shortbread to make a few days before and cupcakes to be made on the 23rd.

Someone on my bus route to college had theirs up the second week of November. I couldn't cope with that!

The girls in my office walked in with tinsel to decorate last week, I've banned them til December. We was working with xmas products in July so I'm still trying to avoid it. Xmas shopping can begin after pay day. I also refuse to have on the xmas channels. We'll probably decorate around 12 days before and they stay up until the first weekend after new year. There's a house on my street that's been spot-able from space for about 3 weeks now though.

I am not feeling it yet this year, except for secret otter, my Christmas cake and 1 present bought I haven't done anything Christmassy.

Apparently I have an advent calendar from MIL- Thomas the Tank ?? I see fricking trains in my sleep!

Mrs C that jumper is ACE.

Venart, I don't think we will be doing much in the way of decorations in the flat here- it is pretty small and all the stuff is in my brothers garage- it would be a slippery slope if I started to buy more.

I went to Berlin last weekend and had hoped to go to the Christmas markets - loads of the ones in the UK are all up and running. None of them have opened yet there, and my sister was just like "duh, it's not even December yet!"

I have done no preparations yet beyond buying my SO present. Things will work themselves out.
