Asking for a response to letter - how long?

loopyloo, 11 July, 2008 at 12:11 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

Hi

Im currrently writing a letter to the head of payroll at my previous employer (NHS).

It is regarding the witholding monies owed to me under the new NHS pay strucure. Ive been waiting for this money for over 2 years now. Whilst they are creaming the interest off it. I will not be paid any interest

All previous targets for paying the money have passed without any communication or updates from them.

I have written a letter asking for an update and when to expect the money.

What is a reasonable time to ask for a response within? 14days?

Thanks

I would ask for a reply within 14 days, otherwise you will pass it onto your solicitor to deal with. A solicitor should be able to write a letter to them threatening legal action for £50 or so (that's what i've done in the past...and its worked)

    Good Luck.

Thanks, i thought 14days should be ok.

Ive basically said, "if I do not recieve a response within 14 days, I shall seek legal clarification on my position."

only prob is, that the NHS think they are exempt from employment law.
