Attention all Poets

thelionroars, 22 July, 2009 at 12:29 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hi All,

I'm getting married in two weeks and am planning my speech. I have decided to do my speech as a Ryhm/Poem. I've started with an introduction, then spoke about my wife followed by My mother/father in law, my mum and dad and the bridesmaids. This is where i have got stuck! I still need to speak about my two ushers (who are also my 2 brothers), 2 cousins who are doing readings and my best man! All of this has to be as a rhym/poem!

Has anyone got any ideas? Any would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!

    ? Hello

    Welcome to hitched!

there is a whole section on speeches (link at the top of the page), I'm no good with poems..they always sound a bit lame.

the only think I would be mindful of is that listening to a poem which is the same length as a 'proper' speech might be a bit dull for the guests, and also can you really get across the serious parts of your speech in poem form.

I might be tempted to do a bit of half and half IYKWIM (If you know what I mean)

Hello, i don't know if you want to be jokey or sentimental but i found this on google for your best man:

There was never any doubt who my best man would be

memories of the good times we've had and your friendship

mean a great deal to me

    Thank you for your support

on one of the happiest days of my life

i am grateful that you are here as

(wifes name) and i start our new life.

Bit soppy i know but quite sweet. I'm doing something similar for each of our parents but doing it in a card for them to open on the morning of the wedding.

    Good luck
