I know how you feel kayl I'm also having a military wedding and we have to invite people that probably wont come whether we like it or not, sometimes the army really drives me mad!

    We get married 11th August,

So far we have insurance, dj booked, save the dates sent, cake booked, venue booked, caterer booked, photographer booked, church booked, my dress, shoes, garter, undies, something old, borrowed, blue, new and even a sixpence. The honeymoon is booked, most of the reception drink is bought, the wedding car is booked so are the chairs(nope our venue doesnt provide chairs?) as are the candelabras, hair lady, makeup lady, both wedding rings and a photobooth.

By the weekend we'll have the suits and first night hotel sorted.

And thanks to Kayl (meant genuinely) I now have a complete to do list with 118 items still on it, but at least it's now out of my head and on paper.

Do you guys mind me asking, I'm starting to think about presents and I wondered how much you are spending on average on all the various parties?

The army drives me insane too sometime - I just had a fantastic call though, OH has been promoted about 15mins ago.!!! Yaaaay. It does mean, now he'll be in the mess, so the "military" guest list just got bigger... Grr. But yaaay.

Wow, your another "almost" date twin too!

That was the thing with me Phoenix - if it wasn't all on paper then it would keep me awake at night, which wouldn't be cool!

I'm struggling with pressies to be honest. Have such a huge bridal party / army of helpers.

We have got My Dad, OH dad, best man, my stepdad and my brother a set of cufflinks and paid for their suits, so that should suffice for them.

Mom's, around £20 each, potentially on a photoframe or something simular

Bridesmaids - will be getting their dresses and then as a gift their jewelry £20 each ish, and not a lot else.

OH is my main expense to be honest.

Thats awesome news ? My OH was promoted a few months back, the extra moolah will really help with the wedding though I could do without the mess bills. He wanted me to move into married quaters when we're married but I'm resisting I own my own house which is near family, work and friends. he's only 40 minutes away at the moment and off on tour april 2012 so although I could commute to work I think I could get quite lonely... he's currently considering moving back to live with me ? which would be awesome as we haven't lived together since before he went in about 4 years now!

I do feel a lot better having a list it means that if something pops into my head I can put it somewhere confident that I'm not going to forget!

@ Phoenix - never going to say no to extra cash, hehe, and has the added benefit that it gets backdated to when the promotion papers went in - September. Also missed the deadling for November payroll now so he'll get 4 months worth of payrises in one month! Woop woop - never mind the wedding, santa better bring me something nice!!! ?

OH wants me to move onto the Garrison before the wedding, but I am resisting! We then have the tricky decision of whether to get a married quarter house or buy our own. We're holding off to see what we get offered first. My OH only came back from tour in April and is off in September again, they have around 18 months between tours. So this means i'll be newly married, new job, new home, alone 270 miles from my family and friends.. still, they say the first year of marriage is the hardes and I love a challenget! hehe

That's my problem, I have so many ideas in my head, i'd be gutted if they weren't in place on the day so I add the associated "to-do" items everytime I think of them - such as the love quotes and balloon release on the to-do list.

? to the four months of payrises in one month!

My OH came back in January and he's off again April 2012 ? Indeed, how to make the first year of marriage interesting - one of you goes off to a war torn country... sometimes I think I must be mad but he loves his job and I love him... I keep getting friends asking if we're going to try for a honeymoon baby ? err NO, if we were lucky enough to conceive it would be due whilst he was away, there's no way I'd want him to not be there if I have to go through it he has to help! and I don't trust the army to get him back or the baby to be on time ?

Haha can't wait till the money comes through for him - going to insist he treats himself to something very nice as he was worked so hard.

Being an army fiancee, and then wife, is so tough sometimes. But what always keeps me going is knowing that after 6 months apart, we won't ever fight, we just appreciate the time we have together.

My OH loves his job too, not all the time, but more than a normal person does.! He just hates being away from home and so that does get him down a bit when he is away and he was spending a good £300 a month ringing home everyday (when he could) from Afghan.

I get the same question, i'd totally love a honeymoon baby. But it would be our first and i'd hate for OH to miss out on seeing the baby grow inside me, and risk him not being home if something went wrong and I needed him. There is a high risk we could have twins and so if we got pregnant on honeymoon, taking into account his dates, I would be due just as he is due to fly back, but knowing me, i'm teeny sized and likely to have twins (if i am lucky enough to get pregnant, I'm not taking that for granted) so would probably have them early.

Have you seen the "when a soldier comes home" video on youtube - about a soldiers life out there in Afghan. The one which gets me every single time is a man watching his baby be born for the first time on a satalite phone. So sad! Smiley sad and when OH came back this time, there were kiddies meeting their daddies for the first time. x

Ok so admittedly I have done nowhere near as much as everyone else but can't do a great deal until I go over to Tanzania in a few months. Here are pics of things I've managed to sort out so far....

Save the Date magnets - sent out ?

The dress I'm having made - it's pink sik and chiffon with some funky Indian fabric which is pink with turquoise and gold. I was never going to go down the white/ivory route and OH requested I wore pink as he knows it's a colour I like - ahhhhhhh. Have my next fitting in 2 weeks.

Ok, so I bought 2 pairs of shoes - got the paler pink ones first as they were cheap and cheerful and comfy then found the second pair in Nine West and couldn't resist.

Deebo - OHs wedding ring came before mine and asked if he could wear it, I said don't be silly and took it to my moms for safe keeping. Then 8 weeks later mine came and I was like "Oh, I want to wear it now." haha. But OH took it off me and again gave it to my mom. Hehe.

Also - if you don't know what to do then perhaps write a list of all the things that need to do done. Go through all your idea's and write a to-do list based on there. I'd done one for our wedding, obviously it has lots of info for our wedding but your more than welcome to have a copy - give me an email if you want a copy.

Katscamel - Lovely STDs, and your dress looks awesome! Can't wait to see what it looks like! Bet your very excited about the move!

Kayl, I haven't watched the video on you tube I'll give it a look, agree that I wouldn't want my first child (again providing I am lucky enough to have one) to meet my OH at Brize Norton...

I love my ring too!!! and I'd love to wear it, OH made me put it away but I have to admit to going and trying it on occassionally - this is one good side to him being away during the week? - ok maybe more than occassionally but it's so pretty!

Pheonix - Don't watch the video unless you are feeling strong, it's VERY emotional and high impact. And meeting baby at Brize - it was seriously sad and very awkward, the poor man didn't know what to do and the poor baby just wanted it's Mommy. Smiley sad

I love your set, your ER especially is very pretty! I wish I could get mine out - have flashed before but here it is:

I can't wait to wear it, but if I am honest I am dreading OH wearing his, he looses everything and since he'll have to take it off everyday for work, I worry it will get mislaid:

I have finished the information sheet yesterday - need to sort out the fonts. I have so many half finished crafty things i need to tackle oh well means i have no reason to go outside into the cold!

Gorgeous rings though - I looove the diamonds, but am kind of thinking, what about my eternity ring? Hope I haven't ruined it for myself later. haha.

@ Mrs Bear - should be with you now ?

@ Lovely girl, I have teeny hands too, but chubby little fingers and so I can pull it off. I think it depends on the size of your ER? My mom has a gorgeous huge ER but it looks totally silly on me! haha. So I went for the biggest stone I could get away with without it looking too much and my WR is only 2mm too so that's helped.

I have had diamonds all the way round mine because there might be times when I want to wear my WR without my ER and it means I can spin it around and have the plain band with diamonds..

I have been really very good with the little jobs, once I have started I won't stop until it is done, but I just have so much more to do. Booo. I'm sure all will work out find though.. Right!? haha

This weekend I should get the firts night hotel booked, the suits sorted and a few bits of admin complete. I'm having December off, though i'll still be hitching I don't want to miss anything! ?

Oohh day after me Lottie! We have ordered OH's ring - brushed palladium, very plain as he doesn't really do jewelley and so won't wear it much, but we were told palladium is similar to platinum in that it doesn't scratch too easily but was waaayy cheaper! My MIL (2b) has given me her grandmother's wedding ring which is fab - love the idea of a family heirloom and it makes me feel that she must like me after all or she wouldn't have offered! It is a yellow gold, plain band, my engagement ring has diamonds and I wanted a plain wedding band so it's perfect. It needs making smaller though and we plan to have it shaped to fit around the engagment ring. No flashes though - sorry girls!
