August 2012 Brides - how are we doing?

Knees, 15 November, 2011 at 15:30 Posted on Planning 0 45

Does anyone else feel at a bit of a standstill with 8-9 months to go? Or is it just me having been engaged and planning for so long already?!

Our abroad wedding is 100% booked. Need to choose the menu and other details like that closer to the time, but there's nothing outstanding in terms of booking. Invitations are being finalised as we speak and will be going out next week.

Our home party still has a bit of work to be done but doubt we'll get anything much done now until the New Year.

I'll be glad when people have RSVPd to our abroad wedding. Loads of people expressed interest in coming, but I keep having nightmares that nobody is going to end up coming!

How is everyone else getting on?

Hello you! I totally feel at a stand still now too. We're in the final stages of sorting a DJ out and then everything big is done really.

We're just in the process of getting my engagement ring reset in palladium so we can choose wedding rings in january/feb time. I really want to buy accessories and bits and pieces but I kind of don't want to until after christmas so mostly just stuck waiting now!

We've booked everything 'big' but I'm just doing one or two little bits every week. So this weekend we chose a few more songs, last week bridesmaid jewellery adn my tiara arrived, I'm going shopping with my bridesmaids for shoes in a couple of weeks. To be honest though, I'm the type of person who can't relax until everything is done, so I'm quite liking not feeling too pressured and just working my way through things. If I could get most things done by April, I would be a very happy bunny! Trouble is, I know I'll get my side of things done, but trying to get my OH to look for presents for his ushers etc will be a long drawn out thing!

Yup and sadly they never change. My new theory is to completely stop nagging which should in turn make them stop relying on being told to do it and so do it off their own back. This is the even more stressful approach though!! Smiley smile

We've been at standstill for a while. This weekend we finally decided on some suitable songs for before, during and after the ceremony so have updated the wedding planner document for the venue. Over the next couple of months we need to make sure we're on track with out budgets and make a few payments to the florist. Can't think of anything else.

I will be glad when the invites have gone out, it will feel a bit more real and productive then!

Got loads of little things to do, going to order the stuff for our invites this month and make them over Christmas. Booked my hen party but OH and BM still need to sort his stag. Cant belive its only 9 months to go now, time is flying! x

Well, like the OP, at a bit of a standstill. Marrying abroad so venue, priest, photographer, flowers, hair, make-up booked. And honeymoon, naturally. Easy, I just need to turn up.

Dress - should be in soon and I need to magic up £500 to pay the balance. Hmmmm.....

BM dress for reception - arrived but BM has no time to try it on. Ah well.

Reception booked but that's about it. Need to sort flowers, menu, favours etc, etc. Oh, and cake.

I also need to think about ties for the men (I'm not asking for matching suits, just ties), a suit for H2b, shoes and tiara for me.

Problem is, at the mo I'm back at uni full time, while also being employed by the NHS and owning a small business. I have ZERO time for wedding stuff. Half lost interest really. I just want to get on the plane and come back married (the whole idea of eloping in the first place) rather than all this fuss.

Ah, and we haven't thought about rings either. Or music. Or a million and one other things. Aaaargghh!

I am the 5th. No date twins as yet!

I have set a task of finding some suitable undies for this month. Got the bra, but am finding it totally impossible to get a pair of pale blue silk briefs or shorts.

Other task is to finalise invite wording which is causing me a headache.

I also keep wishing I could have a singer and characaturist, both of whom I know and have given us cheap quotes, but we can't really find the extra cash...

The other thing is I keep changing my mind about stuff like our cupcakes and our meal. Too much time to spare!

OMG!!! I feel like such a lazy bum compared to you ladies [:'(]

The only thing we have got done so far is paying a fee to secure our date and giving notice......

We're having trouble finding a venue for our reception, but H2B works nights during the week so only have the weekend to look but he's addicted to Modern Warfare 3 atm ?

My MOH isnt alot of help either, she maybe my sister but shes very involved in her own little world. I've picked what dress I want and the bridesmaids dresses, my shoes, underwear and jewellery. Cake is out of my hands as future SIL is doing it all, I wont see it til the day. We dont have a photographer or DJ and because we dont have a venue we haven't a clue about food or even how many people we can invite ?

    I completely agree!

Ive not really done anything for a few months. I'm so tired of everyone saying I must be really busy with wedding planning coz its making me panic that I SHOULD be doing something and I;m not.

I'm hoping to get a few bargin items in the Jan sale such as BM Jewellery, shoes and maybe our rings too!

I'm gona start making the invites in the new year when it's long boring nights!

I can't believe how quick time is going, I thought it would drag in!

    x

I started planning in June 2010 and I remember getting excited when my ticker said 2 years!

Our invitations are going out today (see flash!) - early because it's abroad. Once the RSVPs start coming in, I can start thinking about the little details like favours.

Most of you are so much more organised than me that I´m a bit worried!

We´ve booked the venue (where we´ll have the ceremony and reception). There´s quite a lot included in the package fortunately - registrar, food, drink, cake, flowers etc, so that means there´s less to organise.

We´ve also booked the band / DJ and I´ve just booked the TOG today. I´ve also ordered a load of bits to make my STDs and invitations and I´ve got our wedding website in a presentable state (thought it would be useful to have one seeing as we´re getting married abroad).

And that´s all I´ve done - I really should get a move on given how organised the rest of you seem to be!

I have had a productive day! Booked the day off as recovering from a procedure, but felt totally fine so been able to get loads done online. So now my undies are bought, along with a few back up pairs and some honeymoon swimwear, invite wordings sent off, personalised thank you cards and husband card ordered and several centrepiece things currently being watched on ebay. Whew. Next thing is to actually start filling in the groom and mother of bride journals I have had sitting there for the past 8 months.

    I'm August the 4th too!!!

OUr next job is the D.J and giving notice. Do I need to ring first to book an appointment to give notice or is it best to pop in to get an appointment. Can you do it at the weekend? Sorry with the questions but I really have no idea how this part works Smiley smile.

    Hey date twin!!!! lol

When we gave notices of marriage we had to book an appointment over the phone and it was on a weekday as they did not do weekends. We managed to get the appointment for the following week, but I guess it depends on where you live etc etc.

We're 3rd August. Managed to get a few more things done this week; wedding rings both bought, bridesmaid jewellery done, bought my veil, ordered our invites so just waiting on them being delivered, my shoes are almost done (adding my own crystals).

We just need to choose gifts for the male members of our wedding party and book the kilts when we're home in December, then it's just paying for everything ?

All the big stuff is pretty much done - like MrsH to be having a destination wedding means it's all done for you. Am off to Zanzibar on Wednesday with OH (have to go over for work anyway) so we'll go and get our invitations sorted out (getting them from a local artist which is quite exciting) - am just a bot worried about how we'll get the info printed in them......hmmmmmm..... Also want to check with wedding planner what flowers will be around in August - apparently not frangipanis Smiley sad

Apart from that..............dress wont be ready till Easter - which is fine and saves me having to bring ot over here where the bugs will probably eat it, buy something for my hair, and a shrug thing to cover my horrible jelly like upper arms - oh goody UK for xmas so get to go to the sales Smiley smile

    Niknaks 2 -I'm the 3rd as well.

Church, reception, photographer, cars, dress and my brooch bouquet

In head sorted first dance song and center peices.

Next to do is DJ/Band (OH to sort this but never will lol!!) and give notice. Got BM's together in Jan so hopefully will find dress and book by feb!

Can't believe how quickly time is flying by!!

Well we've finally sorted the DJ out, and he seems pretty good. We found him through a website that SandySounds recommended (where is she these days anyway?!) and he's really reasonably priced and seems to do everything we want.

Also finally got my engagement ring back and also my wedding ring has now been sent off to be sorted out so by christmas i will have my wedding ring as well Smiley laugh

I have been trying all evening to get the usher/groom/bridesmans gifts sorted out (watches) but OH is preferring to play on his new ps3 games rather than trawling the online sales with me! Funny that...?

    Hi everyone,

I'm 18th Aug and I feel like I have loads to do although I've booked all the big things. I've just changed my wedding dress which has caused a big shake up I think!

We're currently sorting out the wording for our invitations which is a bit of a nightmare and I feel the urge to get the honeymoon booked. I've been dreading January for a while as our venue wants half the payment for the reception eeek! x
