    Hiya

    I'm 15th August next year :o)

Feeling pretty organised so far and everything seems to be falling into place quite easily. I really hope it stays that way! Most suppliers we've found have been through personal recommendation which has been nice.

We've got our venue and accomodation booked, chair covers sorted (unfortunately need them) and registrar booked. Photographer is booked, wedding band booked, guest list sorted and save the dates made and sent out and I've bought my wedding dress! Wedding party are picked out and I'm now looking about for florist, cake and hair and make up. Have got recommendations for all of them so am just in the process of enquiring and booking up! OH is sorting out honeymoon as a surprise so I don't know how far along he is with that but he's pretty good at holidays so I'd imagine it's in hand by now!

I think after that it might be a bit of a lull until next year. One of my bridesmaids is away travelling until Jan so I can't start shopping with them until then. I'll probably start looking at making the invitations in the new year but we won't have our menu tasting until 4 months before so can't send them out til that's been done and we've picked a menu. I'm having my dress altered but that won't be until a few months before. Then it'll be sorting out favours and presents for people. Buying my veil, shoes, jewellery and underwear and then having hair and make up trials. And then I think that's it? I've probably forgotten something major though! Haha

    How are you getting along?

    Hello!

    I'm getting married on 31st August ?

So far we've got the church, venue, dj and photographer booked. I've sent out save the dates and I'm now looking at invitation designs, flowers (I know nothing about flowers!) and cake options. Top of the list is finding the dress! I've been dress shopping but I'm finding it much easier choosing dresses for the bridesmaids than for myself! How is everyone else progressing???

    Hi August 8th,

so far we've booked the venue, photographer sent out save the dates, bought bridesmaids dresses and my dress! Booked transport down to the lake and booked a boat ride around the lake and a band for the evening. Just wondering why looking at invitations is proving more of an issue than anything else

We're August 8th. Booked venue, DJ, transport, cake, photographer, registrar - just waiting to give notice. Got favours and done my button bouquet & 2 bm's.

Going dress shopping next weekend and currently looking at rings, still undecided whether to do Save the Dates.

My dad thinks its crazy sorting everything "when it's 12 months away" lol. My mum has really flung herself into it after me initially thinking she wasn't excited and we're constantly messaging ideas back and forth much to the annoyance of my dad lol

Great to see how others are progressing.

8th here too - hi date twins!

I have paid deposits for all my suppliers, but have yet to narrow down any firm ideas on things (flowers/cake etc). Now I've got them booked I can concentrate on the little bits like invitations, how I want the cake to look and the overall look for the day. It's quite a weight off to know they are all sorted.

I have ordered my dress, but haven't even looked at BM dresses yet, I'm having my sister and my partners youngest sister (10) so they will be having 2 quite different dresses, I'll leave these until next year.

Does anyone else seem to think it's speeding up now we're past the year to go mark? My ticker has 10 months in it now. Eeeee.

I forget the rings every time aswell and I have no idea why! And I never forget the cake either! Haha.

I suppose it's one of those things that'll still be there right before the wedding so there's no urgency like with other suppliers that book up quickly. We know the sort of thing we want ring wise but we probably won't do them until spring time next year.

I've got some friends and family that think we're being super organised aswell but we're not at all really! We only booked our venue 2 months ago which in wedding planning terms is quite late really. I was surprised at how few dates they had left for next summer. And I got the impression some people thought it was a bit 'silly' to get a save the date card a year before the wedding. From what I read online that was a normal sort of time frame though. Oh well, it made me feel better that everyone was at least aware of the date so they can plan around if they want to come.

And yes! It does seem to have sped up a little bit all of a sudden. It seems like 2 minutes ago I got all excited because it was '1yr today' and that was a month ago :o)

Ah great to see how everyone is getting on!

We are getting married 10th August.

So far we have booked venue and reception, TOG, transport, MUA and hairdresser, wedding insurance and postbox. We have also bought the bridesmaid dresses but haven't seen them in real life yet! I know, what a risk! As we live abroad I saw them on web, called shop and decided to go for it as I fell in love with them. They have arrived at my Nan's house in the UK and she has checked them over for me. Her and my Mum think I will be very pleased with them but I won't get to see them until we go home in October!! Fingers crossed they will be ok.

I'm currently looking into florists, DJs and invitations...feeling quite organised and very pleased so far!

Wow! You're all so organised!!! I've only just started wedding dress shopping and I hadn't even thought about the rings until I read the posts above! I think I need to get a wriggle on and be more organised ?. Has anyone chosen/designed their invitations yet? I haven't seen a design that grabs me and I'm really struggling for inspiration.

DebbiBunn - we are getting married at Penshurst Place in Kent. What about you?

darkangel14 - we have designed our invitations. It seemed every already made design either I didn't like or the OH didn't like so we had to reach a compromise. We have used a company called pocketfoldinvites and used their templates etc. Then designed what we wanted like the style writing etc. I am having my diy girly input by putting a lace sleeve and ribbon around the invites...hopefully they will look nice! Just in the process of getting them approved x

    Hi ladies,

I'm a 9th August bride! I have my dress but today I popped into a bridal shop to kill some time before an appointment and the lady was asking me when the wedding was, etc. Obviously I had to play along and pretend I didn't have a dress (didn't want her to wonder why I was looking around when I already have my dress!) anyway... She said that for August, you shouldn't leave it too much longer for ordering a dress as she said "you'll lost December and January as the wedding industry shuts down over those months" so production doesn't start again til February. Then she said you probably wouldn't get the dress in til March/April, and ideally fittings need to be done 8 weeks ahead. So, in short, she was saying order ASAP even though it seems like ages away!

This doesn't apply to me but I thought it might be of some use to those of you who don't have a dress yet.

Thanks HundredMonkeys, that is interesting...I really want to try and get my dress sorted in October when I am back home. Its worrying as you think you have plenty of time and then you work out timings etc and realise there is not as much time as you think... ?

Oh no, that's a real bummer about your dress! If it's really THE one, have you thought about having a look around for a used one maybe? I know that might not be everyone's cup of tea, having a dress that's already been used but it would be massively cheaper?

Or, hopefully if you shop around you can find another design very similar but maybe a bit cheaper!

It's so expensive all this wedding stuff huh!

I haven't started on the invitations yet. I was probably going to leave it until the new year. I'll definitely be making them myself. Although when I'm then rushing and spending every evening trying to get them all done I'll be regretting that decision! Haha. Maybe I should start them earlier!

My rough idea though was white hammered gatefold card (you know the one that opens like a wardrobe) with a wide lace around the centre and then a narrower satin ribbon on that, that ties in a bow.

Bit like these. These wouldn't be difficult to make either if you were thinking of making

Hi, my date is the 23rd!

So far I have sorted church, reception venue, photographer, dress, bridesmaids, invites, cake, venue decorations and chair covers, sweet jars.

Got left to do: rings, mens suits, transport, flowers, sweets.

Also thinking of having maybe a magician or something like that but that is only if the budget allows so waiting to see!

I'm getting married on August 17th.

I'm at home this week, and boy is my mum keeping me organised organised! So far we have:

    • venue confirmed and deposit paid
    • photographers booked
    • dress bought (from Monsoon, majo
    • r alterations enquiry tomorrow)
    • Save the dates being designed and the same lady will do invites
    • casino tables and swing band booked
    • place card holders ordered and received
    • flowers confirmed
    • appointment for head gear tomorrow
    • minister confirmed
    • rings being investigated (I am big knuckled so need to find one that will fit my finger and still go over my knuckle!)

I've got a voucher to get a discount at Austin Reed for OH, and my bridesmaids and I are going to look for their dresses at the end of October.

I am leaving the cake to OH, which probably means we will be doing a mad dash to M&S on 16th!

Thanks Miss B to be Mrs H for telling me about the pocketfold website and thanks *Mrs M to be* for your flashes! I definitely like the pocket/gatefold designs - I like the combination of ribbon and lace - but I worry that I'm too cackhanded (and my printer is too rubbish!) to be able to make them myself! I'm still going to look into it as an option as I'd like my invites to have the personal touch.

Following what HundredMonkeys was told I've stepped up the search for a dress even though OH still insists "we've got ages to go"...

Pocketfoldinvites actually offer to print everything out for you for an extra 20p per invitation, insert etc. That is what we doing and we are really pleased after seeing the hard copy. I called them today to confirm booking! As for the ribbon and lace, I plan to add a lace sleeve around the outside of the pocketfold and then have a ribbon tied up around that so I am hoping it won't be too difficult to achieve! Bit worried as art/crafts was never a strong subject! x
