I wouldn't panic too much HappyGoldConfetti but if you have a particular venue in mind I'd book it ASAP as August is one of the busiest wedding months. I'd also book the church/registrar so you are more likely to get the time you want. Once that's done you can relax a bit.

I bought my ring yesterday and can't stop trying it on and seeing how it looks!

I went dress shopping this weekend... First shop and found my dress! That feels like a huge amount of the planning sorted now that I have my dress... We also have the venue, registrar, caterer, and florist. Now we need to start looking at entertainment!

Hi all were getting married on 15th August. So far have booked church, reception, flowers, photographer, cars. Going to try on bridesmaid dresses in a couple of weeks at David's Bridals ( so reasonable compared to some dresses). Really think I need to get a move on with picking my dress! I'm feeling nervous and excited lately

Have booked venue and registrar, given notice. Booked caterer, circus workshop, afternoon and evening live music. Bought bunting, candy buffet jars, decorations, games, bubble machine, poles, table runners and games. Am building a collection of bridesmaids dresses for all my choosey daughters/stepdaughters to pick from. Designed and sent STDs.

Still to do: lose another 2 stone (3.5 so far) and get on with making my dress; plant seeds next spring for bouquets and buttonholes; buy rings; sort transport; order and send invitations; write order of day booklets; pay deposits for ice cream van and bouncy castle; find and print quotes for our cardboard frame bunting (need 120 quotes on love and/or marriage); finish website before sending out formal invitations in the spring. Pashmina and bathroom baskets. My BW will be making the cake and my hen do will involve making sugar flowers. In the week before: fill jars with sweets, make loads of cake/traybakes, buy bottles of water and bags of crisps.

Nearer to the time will confirm wine/beer needs with venue and plan table layouts (no plan). I need to have a wet weather contingency in place also (prob involve buying umbrellas/ponchos for hampers).

I'm putting the whole lot aside until the new year. Far too busy with real life at the mo!

    Hi all!

After getting back from a trip to the UK I am so pleased with the progress we made during the 3 weeks:

    Florist sorted

    DJ sorted

    Gave notice

    Wedding dress found and ordered!

Bridesmaids tried on their dresses and they are fine apart from alterations a bit nearer the time

Got info about hiring suits for all the men/boys

Met up with the reception venue again to run through a few ideas

Ordered and received lanterns for tables

Sorted hotel for night before wedding and wedding night

    EXCITING! x

    Hi everyone!

Thought I'd update. I did post earlier on in the thread but haven't been on hitched for ages since!

Plans coming along nicely so far. I'm in my absolute element planning a wedding!

Sometimes I see people's posts on here though and panic that we're not as far along with the plans as we should be by now! Haha :o)

Sorry for the ultra detailed list below, it's really for my own benefit so I can see what still needs doing...

Oh, and I'm getting married on 15th August.

    So, so far we've got:-

    Venue booked

    Registrar booked

    Bridesmaids and best man asked

    Guest list done

Save the dates made and sent

    Florist booked

    Wedding cake ordered

    My dress bought

    Wedding band and ceilidh booked

    Chair covers booked

People we want to do readings asked

Card blanks and lace and ribbons bought and arrived... just got to start making the invitations!

    Photographer booked

    Hair and makeup booked

    Bought my headdress/ hair flower

    Still to do!:-

My veil, shoes, underwear and perfume still to get

Bridesmaids dresses and shoes to buy

    Book piper

    Buy wedding rings

Make/ sort stationary - invitations, table plan board, place names, table name cards and guest book

    Wedding favours

Gifts to buy for wedding party

Meet with and finalise details with registrar, photographer, venue (pick menu!)

    Do hair and makeup trials

Honeymoon being sorted as a surprise by husband to be so don't know how far along the plans for that are! Would like to think it's done though! lol

Kyleighb your venue looks gorgeous. We are also getting married in Essex, our local church and then Crondon Park ( I hope I'm posting this correctly, I'm not too sure how to post it so it relates to your post...)

I've been looking at dresses all day online but I just don't know what's for me. When I've tried dresses on I want to have that emotional moment of knowing I've found 'the one' but I haven't had it. I'm hoping Monday is my day

I'm glad to hear someone else's H2B is planning the honeymoon as a surprise! Don't think mine has booked it yet, because a lot of companies don't let you book too far in advance - I know mine has been doing a lot of research though.

Right, update on my progress. So far I've:

    - Booked church and reception venue (food and dj included)

    - Chosen and ordered wedding dress

    - Chosen and ordered bridesmaid dress

    - Booked car

    - Chosen wedding cake and topper (are they called toppers if they stand in front of the cake?)

    - Photographer booked

    - Hair and make up person sorted

    - Save the dates sent

    Still to sort:

    - Invites

    - Menu choices (need to attend tasting meal at venue)

    - Grooms suit (and for best man etc)

    - Wedding rings (although we have had a look to narrow down the options)

    - Choose flowers (my mum is doing the arrangement)

    - Veil and/or hair accessories

Why do I always think I've missed something when I've been writing a list like this?

    Hi girls

    i get married 14th august 2014.

feeling quite organised, we marry abroad so this is all booked, sent out invites and awaiting responses before we can book the meal. I have bought my dress, went to 5 shops and kept on dreaming of the dress and it did make me cry twice so I knew that was the one. I have also booked the evening reception. All I have to do now is book a disco, get my bridesmaid dress, our shoes and jewellery, also invites for evening reception. My fiancé is dealing with his side of things so I don't have to worry about that. We are hoping to get items in the January sales like our shoes and make-up from Chanel or Clinique. Our rings have yet to be ordered but I don't think it takes that long.

how is everyone else getting on?

have you started to organise your hen night yet?

9 months to go!!!!! How exciting!

    xx

Anyone else lost their wedding mojo?!

I think because all the big things (apart from the dress!) are booked I seem to have come to a grinding halt with the planning!

There doesnt seem to be anything I can do?!

All of our big things are booked too – I’ve not really lost my mojo, I’m quite happy to take a break over Xmas and New Year. I have been updating my to-do list spread sheet with dates etc for when we need to do things.

What are your plans for the dress? Have you been shopping at all?

    I'm August 29th!

Reading how organised some people are is making me panic slightly! So far we've....

Decided on which chapel to marry in (recently moved house so weren't sure if we wanted our previous parish or new one).

Booked our hotel for our wedding breakfast and reception.

    Booked our evening entertainment.

I've bought my dress and shoes.

Won my veil in a bridal shop competition.

My h2b is planning our honeymoon as a surprise as someone told him it was tradition. One of my bridesmaids had her first baby a week ago, so not planning on going BM dress shopping until after New Year. Got an idea of colours we're going for....nude/blush pink...but want to wait until we know for sure before I can do the. STD cards/organise centrepieces/anything to match colour scheme. We know which cars we want, but just haven't booked them. Every photographer I like is already booked for the day...have emailed about 5/6 already!

Still seems sooo much to do aargh!! xx

My dress came into the shop 2 months early, so had my first fitting on Saturday and it fits perfectly, even the length. I have 8 months and do intend to loose weight, but there's about 1 inch lee-way on the laced back so the dress still wouldn't need altering.

Now everything with my dress, veil, belt and such is paid for ?

What date are you getting married Camilla?

Jaysmonkey - sounds fab, great news you won't need any alterations. Mine is perfect on length but I have a tiny bust so needs pulling in there, but I expected that anyway! All my outfit is sorted too, apart from undies!
