August 2014 brides??

Hello all! I'm 2nd August too!!

We're having a small wedding of about 30 people (immediate family and close friends).

We originally had a lovely boat booked - a Dutch barge decorated with lovely art deco detail - for both the ceremony and the reception.

Unfortunately (at the time, but fortunately now!) it fell through, so we've now found something even better! I wanted to celebrate on a boat, but for a while I couldn't find anything other than those big tacky white cruisers. However, we remembered a floating restaurant that my partner took me on for one of my previous birthdays, and it's just perfect! It's better than the original venue, since it's slightly bigger so we can invite a few friends each, and we will be sailing while we have our meal, so there'll be a lot to look at!

I'm sitting looking at my wedding invites, the addresses need writing and I'm putting it off. I'm thinking of sending them at the beginning of April with an RSVP of May. I should be able to confirm numbers and room allocations by June and then forget about it until we travel there the day before.

That's the plan, not sure if it will work out that way, I've already forgotten to put on a vegetarian dish so I need to redo the menu in April.

I've had my final fitting and am just waiting for printer quotes to come back, before getting the invites sorted. I'm thinking of sending them mid-late April with a deadline of June 30th.

Invites all went out this morning! Another big job done!

My dress wont be in the shop until June so wont be having a fitting until then ☹️

Received the wedding invitations today and I love them. Yay. Will be sending them end of this month/beginning of April.

My first dress fitting is in April as well. Not sure when the final one will be. It doesn't need much work.

I just wanted to find out how many of you have ordered your wedding ring? I've had mine designed by Alba Rose and as it only takes 2 weeks for it to be made and delivered I was wondering if it's too soon to go ahead and order it?

Hello all my fellow August brides!

I picked up our rings this week, so that's another thing off the list. I don't think it's too early to sort them at all - another thing we don't have to worry about. I'm going to pick up my tiara, earrings and bracelet from the designer tonight - it's been a bling tastic week for me!

This week I also booked the chairs I'm hiring for the venue.

In the next few weeks I'm going to be seeing the florist (she's booked already) to confirm everything, and see hairdresser (already booked) to have my hair trial!

I'm getting there with decorations - some candles to buy and the bunting to finish but it's nearly done.

Stationery is causing me a bit of a headache. All my own doing. I need to get my finger out, and buy the stuff to make them! Not sure when I'm posting invitations yet. Everyone has had a STD so I don't see any need to do them mega early. I'll work back from when my caterer needs final numbers for, leaving a few weeks to get rsvps in and chase stragglers.

We've not even given a thought to rings yet. Well OH is always looking. But I've not seemed to have a chance. There again his mum is on our backs to order a cake. Lol. I keep saying if it doesn't get done then I'll pick one up from M&S. Either way I'm not stressing about it.

We've actually had our rings for months! We got mine made to fit my engagement ring so gave ourselves a bit of time to sort that, then we figured we might as well get the OH's too. I get them out occasionally to look at the pretty and get all excited. I'd go for it Darkangel.

Lots of little bits being sorted for the pretty decorations. Meeting with the cake lady tomorrow to discuss design and decide on flavours. Then I'll contact the florist to discuss the final bits.

I'm feeling very productive at the moment.

Any flashes of your tiara & jewellery ATB?

I think I'll go ahead and buy it! I just know I won't be able to reist trying it on in the run up to the wedding but at least it'll be another box ticked!

I've ordered my invites and I should get them at the end of the month. I have a meeting with the florist tomorrow to discuss table decorations because I have no idea what I want or how much it could cost, but I'm most excited about my dress! It should be arriving in the shop any day now and I can't wait because I've forgotten what it looked like on me! Once that's here I can then start to look for shoes, underwear, jewellery... there's always something to do!

How're we all getting on?

Ordered some paper bits so I can have a play with my guest book and place cards etc - nothing fancy as I'm not crafty enough, just stamps and paper really!

Discussed flowers again with my lovely florist, which is very exciting. I didn't get to meet with the cake lady which was disappointing (and worrying!), so that's next weekend now (fingers crossed).

I did have a bit of a "moment" the other night, my future MIL told some guests what she thought was happening for the accommodation, so they started looking for other hotels. We have room for everyone at the venue so she's had to go correct them, just ask me if you don't know what's happening or don't say anything at all. All the information will be on the invitation which people will receive soon, wait for that or ask me or the OH. Rarr.

Had a little setback last weekend with FFIL announcing he'd invited his niece's boyfriend (of whom I've never heard of before now!) without asking us first - and it would be 'unpolitic to invite them as they've already booked their flights' ) but oh well, done now. FFIL is a running nut and his knee is giving him gyp at the moment so I am feeling avenged, ha ha!

Got our invitation proof yesterday - a couple of things need changing, but looks like I'll be able to send on schedule, yay! Now FMIL, those addresses I asked you for weeks ago...

I tried out my bridal make up at OH's grandmother's 90th birthday and I like it very much. Good job my BM's better at make up than me though! (Must work at getting rid of those eyebags - especially with stag/hen the week before the wedding!)

I still haven't sent out the invites as there's been a few hiccups as to who is coming and I'm still waiting for daughters +1's (they're the BM's) and as they're over 20 I don't think I'm going to know until the day before. So long as they're boys it's ok as I've ran out of girl favours. I haven't been able to finish the name tags as there may be up tp 5 name changes, mainly the +1's but I'm not thinking about it...I can point to chairs on the day.

Everything is finished and packed up, just BM dresses to get altered when the girls are home in June and I've forbidden them to lose anymore weight.

Other than that I'm done, menu and rooms to confirm in 2 weeks and that will do until June. (I must remember to send out the invites!)

cant believe that we all have 5 months left!!!

At the weekend, we finally decided on the flowers we liked, and stretched our budget a bit (!!) We picked up the rings end of February and we absolutely love it!

We sent out invitations and got few replies (even though those invited said their children are coming!) we prayed that someone else would drop out and make rooms for their children. A bit annoying! The deadline for RSVPs is in May, so plenty of time for me to catch up with them!

We would need to find bridesmaids clothes argh! Its a nightmare finding sage green dresses within a tight budget.... I am keeping trying.... got to find shoes, make up etc for me!

I took my parents to the venue on Friday and they loved it, thank god!

I am trying to enjoy the wedding planning, even though at some time, I just want a break from the planning... I just want to elope! ha ha.

I know! 5 months is going to fly! Eeek i want it to go fast but still so much to do.

We have chosen our rings now so need to put the deposit down on them so they can be started. I finally got the invites out this last week (they took much longer than anticipated) the RSVP is in may and we have already had a couple of replies on the website form so thats good. I only sent the day ones out though so need to get the evening ones done ASAP but there are much less of these thankfully.

Next project is BM dresses. Shoes are sorted which is good.

Need to get my shoes sorted then start the hunt for OH's suit.

Fizzy Hair, its only 4 months left!! Kind of hoping that wasnt a typo so you'll be all excited now!!

I'm getting my RSVPs back very slowly. My parents havent sent me their meal choices and the rest of the guest have 18 days to send their RSVPs back. Dont think that'll happen!

I've passed a few of my milestones to the day, Christmas, FFIL birthday, FMIL birthday, OH birthday on Thursday coming! Then Ive got 2 and a bit months till my hen. At the moment Im playing it week by week rather than days or months and it seems to go quicker like that. I just worry how I'll feel on the other side when theres nothing left to plan!!

OH accidentally told me where we're off to on honeymoon last week. Paris!!!! OH EM GEE!! I love Paris, always have. I'm so excited. Thing is I dont know where we're staying but I do know how much he's spent because he told me that too. Spaz.

I sat last night and thought about all the stuff we'd done and I cant believe we've managed it. Dont get me wrong, we've still got to make the table plan, the OoS and the place names as well as the table names, finalise the suits, check out the chair cover lady and finalise the flowers. Theres a little bit of DIY to do as well which my MOH is very kindly helping me with the friday before the wedding. I feel quite unconventional getting married on a Sunday but I'm so damn excited!!!!

I've had my invites printed and now just have to put them all together and send them out and have asked for replies by 16th June.

I cant believe its 4 months to go either!! 1 minute I'm thinking "got loads of time to sort things" then the next minute I get that feeling in my stomach like you do when you drive over a bridge too fast and think "oh god only 4 months to go I'm never going to get all this done" LOL!

We got our wedding rings from Alba Rose just before Christmas and I made the OH hide mine from me - ill be trying it on all the time otherwise!

We are booked in with our venue for menu tasting on 24th April rather excited for that!

Got to start thinking about choosing our music for the videographer and buying bits and bobs for the tables!

after a massive push from FMIL we ordered our cake yayy and Sunday he chose his suit.

I've still not sent mine, the irony of sending out Save the Dates as soon as we chose the venue and now with 4 months to go the invites still sit in their box. I'll do it next week..................

I had to have serious words with myself to get mine done! It's quite a boring job but not a bad as you think (once they were made in my case) and a big cross off the list.

Everyone listing what they need to do has made me think I need a list. There are all sorts of bits I need doing before our final meetings at the end of June.

Im a new member but Im an August 2014 bride, Saturday 23rd to be exact! Plans are coming along ok I think.....my dress and BM dresses are sorted, they should be arriving soon so we can arrange fittings/alterations. Next on the outfit to do list is suits plus I need my shoes/accessories but I have seen the ones I think I will go for.

Im in the process of making my invitations and am hoping to get them sent out by Easter with RSVPs required by end of June.

Rings; we bought mine last year as we got a money off voucher for the jewellers after buying my "bling" and figured we may as well put it towards my wedding ring. OH still need to decide but we have started to look.

As Im new I'll introduce myself with a picture which we used for our STDs; this is our wonderful Izzy and first addition to our little family; we double backed printed photos onto pearlised ivory/pink card and added a ribbon which was personalised with our names on it. I then stuck some magnetic tape on the back to make them into fridge magnets.

Invites are all out and have got an RSVP of the beginning of May, have had quite a few back as well as two regrets which I wasnt expecting!

I think ive sorted most things, just need to sort out

• suits and shoes for all the boys including the kids
• favours (still not sure what I want to do?!)
• flowers and cake (cant do these until the week before as Im doing my own)
• flower girl dress (picked it just need to buy it closer to the time)
• Place names & Table names (closer to the time)
• Decide on music for the ceremony

I think thats it but im probably forgetting loads!

Dr Buffles! Thats so exciting to have a date twin! Unfortunately I have another date twin which means a few of H2Bs family wont be able to make it as his cousins are BMs! Its unfortunate as half of his family are in Hong Kong so he wont have many guests from his side anyway so this cuts his numbers even more!

I'm getting on great!

We are getting married at The Old England Hotel in Windermere on Friday 29th August (just a small do - 16 people) and then having a party for family and friends in St Helens (where I grew up) on the Saturday. We are then going on honeymoon to Cuba two weeks all inclusive on Monday 1st September!! I can't wait!!

Our colour theme is Cadbury purple and silver.

Groom, best man and Groom's fathers suits are all sorted, bridesmaid dresses are sorted just need some alterations. Groom's cravat is silver and his best man and dad's are purple.

I still need to get my jewellery, underwear and shoes.

Got an appointment with florist and photographer on 12th April. Hairdresser and make up artist have been booked and hopefully will go for my trials soon.

Got a complimentary stay at our hotel to look forward to in June where we will taste the menu!

For the party I've ordered beautiful flower centre pieces in martini vases, purple and silver diamantes, and sweet jars for each table.

I've also ordered a "Mr and Mrs" sign and post box.

I have got the catering sorted for the party, having a lovely buffet. Also booked the DJ and I have a singer too!

Invites got posted out in January!

We bought our wedding rings at the end of last year - they are beautiful.

Booked a gorgeous blue Bentley arnage to pick us up from the hotel after we have married to take us to the lake where we will board a lake cruise for an hour with our guests.

Just need to do little bits now really i.e. download our songs for the ceremony, finish off accessories shopping, wedding favours etc

I've also bought my lovely groom the following:"so you don't get cold feet" socks, a miniature bottle of jack daniels which has a shot glass which I have personalised to say "to help with the nerves", a personalised pocket watch which says "don't be late!", personalised cufflinks to wear on the day, a gorgeous card which I ordered on funky pigeon.com which says "today I marry my very best friend" and a lovely pic of us.

A lot of my things I have ordered on ebay/amazon - my bank statement is just full of it!! But it's fab cos you can find everything you need on there!
