Hi I'm new on the forums. It's looking like we're going to get married 22nd August. We're just waiting on the registrar to confirm & then we can put the deposit down on our venue
I have to admit that I've got my dress. I thought it was way too early, but I fell in love with the first dress I tried on & it was at really good price - cheaper than anything else I'd seen, so I went for it. We have a caterer lined up & my wonderful hairdresser is going to do us a deal for the day. I went to a wedding fair yesterday, so have loads of brochures to look through for photographers, which is next on my list (although the OH doesn't want to spend more than about £500 on photography). I've got a good idea of the bridesmaids dresses that I like - & so do the girls, but we're a bit spread out, so need to arrange a get together.
I need to sort out makeup & decide whether we want a marquee - then just the entertainment side of things & I can rest for a little bit.
We are all booked in for 15 August 2015. So far have put deposits on the big things, Church, reception venue (includes cake, dj and 3 rooms for wedding night), car and TOG.
I have got a dress but doubtful it will ever fit and doesn't suit me so will be selling it and getting a new one later in the year.
I am making all stationary myself and have started buying bits for centrepieces. Next on my list is buying chair sashes and looking into flowers ( my neighbour has a flower business and has told me I am not allowed to go elsewhere lol)
We've sorted the church and reception venue, and are meeting a photographer next week. I've also found a dress I want and am putting a deposit on that next week!
I just want it to hurry up! I keep looking at everything but thinking there's so much time left, is it too early to get everything sorted?! If I get everything done, I'll have nothing to do but sit and mope counting down the days til it's eventually time!
Eek, you all put me to shame with your planning - we're getting married on 21st Aug 2015 and have just this week paid our deposit for the venue (ceremony and reception will both be there) and booked the registrar.
Hopefully you will spur me on to get some more things booked!
Bamboleyn.... we're date twins... I'm 13th August too!
I was just panicking reading all your posts... you're all so organisd, thinking the only thing I've done is paid the deposit on the venue
Then I realised it's a package so it actually means deposit is paid on.... food, dj, flowers, chair covers, all rooms reserved for guests, bridal suite booked!
That feels better now... blonde moment! ?
I've been dress shopping twice. ... and there is one that I keep thinking about. ... maybe it's the one but don't want to rush.
Got an appointment with TOG.
Feeling like I need to do everything asap as h2b goes out of area for two months in the summer and I'm a teacher so was hoping to get lots done then... now most will be up to me. Gutted that we can't give notice until he returns. Wanted the official stuff ticked off the list.
we have booked the registrar and venue so far and paid the deposit on both. We have a caterer and photographer in mind and I'm now wondering what we are waiting for!
I have found a dress that I think is 'the one' but I'm trying to be sensible and not rush into anything. Similarly with buying lots of thigs from eBay and the range and similar other places! I can see me going mad once I get started!
15 months does seem like a rreally long way away, but when I think we've been engaged for 3 months already, I think it's going to fly by!
Wow you're all making me panic now! We're 28th August (hopefully), and have decided the venue we want, but not booked it yet. Hoping to get a lot more sorted in the next few weeks though! And going for my first dress shopping outing this week which is very exciting!
Thought I would update on where I am at! So far I have booked - venue (whole day in one place including food & drinks, DJ and overnight stay), registrar, photographer, florist, harpist for the ceremony, cars, chair covers and candy cart. I'm meeting with the cake lady to discuss ideas in a few weeks. Think I will wait until August to start dress shopping. I'm itching to do more stuff (look at invites, table plans, table decor, favours) but with all the big things out the way I don't wanna do everything too soon!
I feel like I have nothing to do for ages now which isn't a nice feeling! Just hope the time flies by! I am starting to get a little itchy about how much money we're spending! *covers face with hands*
I've just put a deposit on a florist this weekend. They are going to do the bouquet's a button holes for me. I'm going to try and teach myself flower arranging so I can have LOADS of flowers around my venue, but not spend a fortune.
A friend of a friend has said she will do our cupcakes for us - she's trying to say she will do them FOC, but I don't think we know her well enough to not pay her anything! Although it's a very kind offer.
Will be meeting with a caterer and a photographer in the next couple of weeks. After that, I think the only big thing left is the band.
We have venue booked (ceremony and reception, and catering in house), photographer booked, DJ booked, and I've started collecting bits and pieces and DIYIng some crafty pieces we are having so it's not a mad rush in the lead up to the wedding. We have been advised to speak to a florist in August so we can see what's in season. I've also ordered a tester bridesmaid dress online! Not sure what else I can do this early on! Feels so long away
Oh and we have now started thinking about what we want to do for a honeymoon so we can save/ book an early deal when flights are released in September! X
I'm 8th of August 2015 too Can't wait and it seems to be ticking by at a nice speed so far.
I've booked Church, village hall for our reception, TOG (friend), hog roast and I've bought my dress (it was on sale and I would have been distraught if it had been discontinued or something). All other things I am DIYing including cake, centre pieces and invites
You sound like you're at a similar stage to me, I've got the venue booked, registrar provisionally booked until we give notice in a couple of months and photographer is almost there, too! We aren't having a band though.
I think MUA and hair will be next too, and like you, dress is waiting until Jan when I've had a chance to lose a bit more weight really struggling with the diet at the moment though. How are you doing?
Feel better that we seem to be at a similar stage in the planning! Diet not great, trying to do the whole healthy eating and exercise rather than my usual faddy dieting so that can try and keep it off I just don't want me feeling fat to add to the difficulty of choosing a dress!
Getting married at The Bell Inn in Stilton, how about you?
Mine isn't going great either, I've given myself until Christmas to diet then I'll start looking for dresses, as I'll still have 8 months. I've lost 22lbs over the last 8 months ish so hoping for that again and I'll hopefully be getting a size 12 rather than 14/16!
I'm quite enjoying the fact that its not till next year... so many brides I work with wish the time away, but I know that after this is my last "big thing" as such! I've had children, bought a house, been uni and all that malarky! Plus gives me plenty of time to DIY pretty much everything and change my mind at least twice along the way haha!
So far we have bought our insurance, booked the venue (Moxhull Hall), booked our photorapher (Daffodil Waves), booked the registrar and found a band.
Save the dates are in the middle of being designed as we speak!!
Package deal at venue booked.... incs ceremony, flowers, 4-course reception and evening reception, , chair covers, bridal suite, dj, all rooms provisionally held for guests.
Tog booked.
Dress.... hanging up upstairs... alterations needed closer to the date.
Tiara ordered and is currently en route!
Hairdresser booked.
Room reserved for me and my BMs the night before the wedding at venue.
STDs posted this week.
Hopefully meeting with flower people in the next few weeks at venue to discuss what's on season etc.
Registrar provisionally booked.
In discussion with cake lady who we will more tha than likely book with.
Oooohhhhhh.... exciting. ....it's all coming together quite nicely
Just the music & cake to sort out of the main things (the latter of which I'm working on & having a tasting next week), the h2b is supposed to be in charge of music - so we could be waiting a while to get that arranged. We need to start thinking about menu ideas for the caterer, but I've been really busy with work, so haven't had time to sit down & look through all the options.
I think we're going down the VistaPrint route for our invites & save the dates have gone out. Someone spotted some pretty hearts that could be used as centerpieces that were in Next for £6, so I need to find time to go down there & look at them.
With my bridesmaids so far away, we now have a whatsapp group as well as on FB so we can share photos etc. The decorative bits are the things I find hard as I love the idea of all of them, but am not creative in the slightest!
We happen to be having a day off with some friends on the year to go mark & then things might actually feel more real
Less than a year to go for all of us now!! So a little update on where we're up to -
booked and confirmed is;
- church
- reception venue
- photographer
- florist
- cake
- wedding car
- dress
- save the dates (sent out in March)
next on my to do list is to get hair and make up sorted - but haven't got a clue where to start! We have an appointment with the most incredible person to do our invites, super excited about what she will come up with! Next after that is a shopping trip to Bicester Village with my cousin who's treating me to my wedding shoes :-)
my dream vera wang dress bought (and already arrived at my house!)
Jimmy choos bought today
veil
hairdresser booked
make up is in the hands of my chrief bridesmaid who owns a spa!
Not having cars as we'll be getting ready at the venue in the morning, but need to start thinking about flowers. Looking into casino tables for the boys
So really its just the finer details
But most important on my own list, I've started on my actual wedding invitation design! - which has been quite easy considering this is what i do for a job and I have a million ideas!
I've still got a few things to make decisions on, but I could probably do that within a day if I had to - but I'm enjoying the whole process so much I don't want to rush decisions
Less than a year now yay! The real countdown has begun! We booked our florist last weekend. In the process of sorting out our invitations. I can't stop thinking about favours though! I know I want something for guests to take home and keep, people say don't waste the money etc. But it's something I want to do. But can't think of what we can have! Grrrrr
Oo i didn't know an August 2015 existed! This ones me too, i'm 22nd August. All those on the 1st Aug that's also my birthday :p.
Think i've booked most the important things:
Church, Venue, TOG, DJ, String Quartet for ceremony, Car, ordered my dress, bought all BM dresses, sent Save the Dates.
Upcoming:
Met florist yesterday - going back in October to confirm once fully decided. Next weekend - Cake tasting and hopefully ordering. 2nd BM to try on dress. Following week has wedding breakfast tasting for the menu choices. October - 3rd BM to try on dress. Booked to give notice to council. Decide on and book honeymoon.
Then i expect it's mostly done for 2014 until little bits like buying shoes/underwear in time for first dress fitting in January.
Will be watching everyones progress to keep me up to speed!
Didn't know this thread existed... I'm August 28th!
All we have booked so far is the reception and registrar... Feeling very disorganised reading how much some of you ladies have done already! We know which suppliers we are using for the flowers and the cake, I think we really need to get a photographer booked soon!
