This weekend we are travelling up to my mum's to go and see the dressmaker about BM's dresses. It's the last really big thing to get sorted and I'm very excited!
Wow im getting married 4th aug 2015, its flown by!
I think we have done quite well, booked the photographer, venue, caterers, registrar,dj, flowers, BM dresses, got my dress!, got our rings!, booked a harpist for the ceremony and sorted the invites we went and did out marriage notice yesterday along side all the bits and bobs ive already brought to dress the venue in my taste. I feel like im not going to have anything left to do four months before the wedding at this rate haha
I'm constantly flabbergasted by how quick the time is going. Especially when OH said the other day 'in 7 months it'll all be over and we'll be back at work after honeymoon'...wow thanks.
The invites are the main focus for me atm, i've got two weekends left out the time frame i set so that they can be delivered first week of march. It'll be a busy two weekends as each stage seems to take so much longer than antisipated, but i'm pleased with how they're shaping up. We know what rings we want also and where to get them, just a case of actually going to buy them. Probably next month for that, everythings being taken over by invites!
I'm the same Purplecake, I keep saying once the invites are done I can concentrate on everything else. Really trying to push to get them finished but they've taken a lot longer than I imagined. Also want the spare room back because it's a mess with craft bits at the moment!
When's everyone having their meeting with the venue and menu tastings? Our venue said we can come in whenever we like for our tasting and to generally discuss the day but I don't want to go too early.
I had a meeting with my venue a couple of weeks ago and will have another one in May. I also met with my caterer a couple of weeks ago where we decided on our menu options, just need to arrange a time/date to go a do the tasting. We'll probably do that in a couple of weeks.
We had our food tasting two weeks ago as we wanted to get our invites out in the next few weeks, so we needed to know what we might need to ask our guests. Turns out we are just asking them if they are vegetarian or not as our main course is Paella with salad, fresh bread baskets etc so not much choice for them!
I don't think you can go 'too early' unless you might change your mind.
We're booked in for 7th March, can't wait. We get to try two options and then pick one for the day. I was only worried it was too early because I'm sure I'll have loads more questions to ask nearer the time but I guess we'll be having another meeting with the venue.
Read though our terms and conditions and it said we had to pay 50% of the balance 6 months before but when I asked them they said we only have to pay 1 month before so that's a bonus!
My menu tasteing is 18th March, then will have a meeting with wedding co-ordinator 3 months before to go through everything for the day and the a month before to finalise the small details.
Our invites are being made at the moment, we've set the RSVP decline for 20th June. We have to give final numbers 4 weeks before the wedding (so end of July) so figured it gives us a month to chase the stragglers. We're giving a choice of 3 options per course on our wedding breakfast menu, so we had our tasting a couple of weeks ago. Hoping that the advantage of doing this will mean that people will have to RSVP otherwise there'll be no food for them if they don't!
We sent our invites at the start of this week. Me and fiancé were on a week holiday and find that when we're at work anything wedding related just gets put to one side as we're so busy so we dedicated this week to wedding bits and bobs. We have had 7 RSVPs back already! We put our deadline for the end of May as venue need final numbers 6 weeks before we didn't want to be scraping around chasing people too close to the day.
What a bargain chels! I was at the 6 month mark yesterday, it's a little scary to see my ticker starting with a 5! Invites are now ready to send so they'll be going out this week, then I just need to start making the evening one's. What's everyone doing for their hen do? I'm organising my own so need to start thinking of something.
my bridesmaids are taking me away for the weekend, no idea where, im not even allowed to pack my own case, so dont even know if it is this country or not!
im also having a 'family/friends' hen do, which i am organising, this is just a meal in a lovely thai in liverpool then cocktails
my fmil is also organising me a bridal shower, which is afternoon tea at her house for all the older relatives
We are this close to booking our venue, so I think we are pretty much set on our wedding day now. Just realised our wedding will be exactly six months from today.
We're going for a weekend to Butlins in Bognor in July, and I think my MIL is taking me to a spa the weekend before. My OH is having his stag weekend over the weekend of 25th July, and as the wedding is the 4th I'm really nervous about broken bones and bruises!
It's actually been pretty easy so far as we are mainly inviting close family so there will be fewer than 20 of us (and my parents had already planned to visit from Germany during that time anyway) and we are getting married on a Monday! Every venue I enquired with was available, same for photographers.
If I was planning a big Saturday wedding, I would've had to start at least a year earlier with August being prime wedding season.
The good bits are I've had the call to say my dress is in, so that's now booked for a first fitting in April. Invitations have all gone out as of last weekend. The 2 large bits left to do asap are OH still has to decide on his and the mens suits, and we've still to order our rings. Otherwise my brains on little DIY bits such as music playlists, table numbers and guest books.
Hows everyone hen coming along? My BM is really uninterested and it's not getting very far ☹️
We're pretty much there I think! We've ordered our rings, which I am really please with as they are being made by a local jeweller and they are matching, but with a different finish. The invitations have gone out and we've had two RSVP's already, still a good couple of months to go before the RSVP deadline, so I'm still calm about all of that.
My sister is organising my Hen Night and I know there are 8 of us going, that she has booked something and that I am to find and wear a white dress! That's all I know! Oh, and it's on 20th June.
Had our menu tasting at the weekend, the food was amazing but afterwards we went through everything with our coordinator and I felt majorly stressed, had a bit of a meltdown this week. They've sent us the invoice and are trying to charge us £500 for grapes and crackers (to go with our cheese cake) I don't think so!
My cousins making the cake and I'm not keen on the practice one she's made so I'm trying to politely suggest some changes.
I keep thinking our wedding is going to be boring so I'm randomly buying things that I don't need and blowing the budget in the process. Also not sure If the stuff I have bought will go together. Time seems to be flying now!
Main things left to sort out are rings, suits, gifts, decorations and honeymoon. The decorations are the main thing I'm worried about because there's so many little bits and pieces I want to get and it seems never ending!
My moh isn't paticularly interested in the hen do either but I've invited her over tonight so we can make some definite plans and will hopefully get a fb event page set up so that will be one less thing to worry about.
It has only just hit me how close the wedding is this year is flying by!!
We have menu tasting next Wednesday and Invitations are going to go out in
the next week or 2. Hopefully my dress should be in by end of the month. Next
month or 2 I will have to get in contact with all suppliers to discuss final
arrangements.
My 2 closest mates are arranging my hen party I don't have a clue all I know
is it is 19th June for 2 nights and there is 12 of us going, I am not even allowed
to know the theme!!
