Babies amusement ides - Help!

BatsGirl, 1 June, 2012 at 11:13 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi, we have two 6-9 month babies at the wedding (actually one may be just over a year by then) but I'd love to get them a wee present on the highchair for when the speeches are being done to keep them amused and also because I don't think the parents would appreciate us giving them a gin favour ;-)

As I don't have kids I have ZERO clue as to what's a good idea. I was originally thinking just a rattle but Yes, I didnt think that one through! Now I'm wondering about a teddy, you know the ones with tacticle parts/mirrors on them...or maybe that's too young? Other than that I'm stuck...a book is no good as someone would need to read them it/amuse them which obviously can't be done during the speech.

Also, for the reception do you think it's a good idea to nip to a charity shop and get a few toys? I'm pretty certain the parents will do this but I've been at a few where the parents haven't and the kids have been bored, specially at that age when they can't run round the dancefloor.

I had activity boxes for all the kids - from 3 months to 13 years.

For the little ones, I had those tactile soft cubes that open up with the mirrors etc. like you described. They loved these.

They also had soft toys and little picture books. Little ones will still play with books, even if not being read to.

Hiya, my niece is just under 2 and we made up a wee box with colouring book, crayons, sweeties and balloons! The balloons went down best with them tho as they could play with them at the table or like my neice run around the table batting them around! Smiley smile

I bought some little baby toys from amazon - only cost me a couple of quid and the babies loved them. Think they were bath time squirty toys

I got the kids some favous packs from a website - i'll dig out the name for you if you want. The kids loved them they had loads of little games to play with

    Hi

Babies love books - at the younger age they love shoving them in their mouths and drooling on them (been there, done that!) so I'd definatly suggest "board" books, that way they wont disolve Smiley laugh

Tactile toys, another good idea, as they will love crinkling and squeaking the bits. I think that is a lovely idea!
