Balloons as centerpieces?

Mrs.Keogh2b, 26 February, 2011 at 16:28 Posted on Planning 0 13

Im contemplating having balloons as centrepieces purely because there alot cheaper than the fish bowls and martini glasses. I just thought id come on here and ask whether you guys think they will look 'cheap'? I was thinking something similar to the pic.

Were getting married in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas so its just for the party when we come back.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

    Yes. Sorry!

They just remind of a kids Birthday party, there are lots more choices than just fishbowls, martini glasses or balloons.

If you like them then go for it, I personally wouldn't have them but there are other cheap alternatives such as tea lights, candles or even stem vases with flowers and crystals. I am sure you will get lots of other advice from other hitchers too.

TBH, we are thinking of balloons now also, mainly because of cost, and the ones pictured much look nicer for a wedding than just normal balloons.

I'm not totally keen if im honest- they too remind me of a child's birthday party. Like others have said, if your wanting to cut down costs there are other options that can be done as cheaply.

Does your venue have anything already? We are using the venue candelabras and not having anything else on the tables. There are options using tea lights too. I'm sure people can help suggest other ideas if your not too sure on balloons. If you like them though, that's all that matters, everyone has different ideas. Wouldn't help for us all to be the same!

If im being honest I cant say i love them but im just trying to cut costs i suppose. Any ideas on centrepieces would be a huge help as im useless with things like this.

We are trying to do our centrepieces on a budget. We have friends and family collecting jam jars that we are decorating with ribbon and we are having some with flowers and some with tealights. They should look really good. We are having a shabby chic rustic style though so it depends on what kind of look you want.

If you're getting married in vegas, maybe big vases (cheap from IKEA) and fill them with chocolate poker chips or something! Doubles as favours too!

Go to hobbycraft for inspiration, theres so much stuff in there its impossible not to get crafty anf make something fab!

I would check out images on the internet for inspiration and also some bridal magazines give great inspiration too. I am not very crafty but once I started searching I really got into it and started spotting things in shops that would be perfect.

To be honest, I am not a big fan of balloons, I think they look a bit 80s (in a bad way) and tacky. That said, the one you posted looked a lot nicer than the ones that I have seen.

If you like it go for it. But, as the other ladies have said, there are plenty of cheap alternatives to expensive arrangements. If you do things yourself it was save a lot of money!

Sorry I am against balloons too, I think they are tacky. Whats your budget per centre and we could see what we can come up with? I have spent less than £10 each on mine so it can be done.

I'm not keen, they can look a bit tacky, you'd have to be careful not to overdo it. What about looking in somewhere like poundland and seeing if they have some nice cheap tea lights. Some shops do some nice fake flowers cheaply in vases, I remember seeing them in a next outlet store, but have seen them in other places too. If you add up the cost of baloons and helium its probably not a whole lot more, if you go for the minimal 'single flower' look.

Hi i am having ballons at night on half the tables for some height in the room and the cost! but on the other half i have 8 centre peices which cost £20 for all 8 so it can be done cheap! they are just jars with glitter candle sand and a church candle with a bit of ribbon from my colour scheme
