Band - Ceilidh and usual music

emmajpollock, 4 January, 2013 at 12:27 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie to this website having got engaged a couple of weeks before Christmas.I hope some of you might be able to help.

My fiance and I would like to have reeling/scottish country dancing as well as a normal band but don't really want to fork out for two bands! So does anyone know of any bands in SE England who do this? We have a band in mind from Scotland but I fear they'll be too expensive to travel to Buckinghamshire.

Any help massively appreciated, the big day is in July so not long to plan! I sort of wished we'd gone for a longer engagement now!

One of the most fun weddings I have been too had Ceilidh dancing. I had never seen it before and it was amazing to shoot/watch. Those Women really do get flung about ?

I'll ask the bride who's wedding is below because she was from London but got married in Scotland so I don't know where her band were from. She seems to not use local suppliers so there is every chance they might not have been either.

It depends on what sort of thing you're after. We're having a ceilidh and have hired a band called License to Ceilidh who have played on all sorts of TV shows etc. They also provide other music services (discos, pipers, solo musicians, duos, trios and quartets. Have a look at their website www.licensetoceilidh.co.uk

I'm not sure who you have in mind from Scotland already but I know that Three Card Trick (see Coast Entertainments), from Glasgow, do both and travel also. They aren't all that expensive to travel up to the North of Scotland so perhaps wouldn't be so expensive to travel to Buckinhamshire. It can't hurt to ask...
