Band Set Timings ...

Sloth, 14 March, 2012 at 11:32 Posted on Planning 0 4

I am looking at having a band in the evening, most i have looked at will do 2x 60 minute sets - however, I am a little worried this is alot of time with their pre-recorded music/DJ options. From weddings i have been to I always thought the DJ's were on for a long time.

What time did you/are you having your bands on from? Do you think 2 hours is enough?

With timings I am thinking 3x 50 minute sets would be better?

We have a band and they also do 2 x 60 minute sets. They then DJ in between.

    I think we're going for:

    7pm - 8pm - DJ

    8pm - 9pm - Band

    9pm - 10pm - DJ

    10pm - 11pm - Band

Last half hour we'll just see how they feel but probably DJ.

We find 3 x 50mins sets is a good schedule for band timings. Some of our clients in the past have been concerned about filling the whole evening with entertainment so usually we would start about 8 to 9 and then space the sets out until 12am. This leaves breaks of about 20 to 30 mins between sets during which we play music through the PA. Some clients like to bring their own ipod and play their own music to dance to, other clients have preferred to have a bit of an ear break and catch up with friends while music is playing in the background.

We had 3 x 45 min sets. Like you I was worried about the intervals, so we decided to create playlists on our Ipod, I was still apprehensive but there was no need to be it worked a treat. The band rigged the Ipod up so that it came out of their speakers and the band left their lighting on. The Dance floor was never empty.

We can provide 3 x 45 minutes and inbetween we provide an ipod dj so the dancefloor is never empty Smiley smile The bands website is www.milomax.net and Ross will be happy to answer any questions.

3 x 45 minute sets is a better option. When I have played at weddings, this has worked well, with some recorded music in the breaks.
