Bandless for my wedding

RusticBride15, 8 May, 2015 at 15:23 Posted on Planning 0 7

Feeling a bit urrgghh!!

My own fault really I totally didn't think about this when I contacted a good friend of mine who's in a band and asked them to perform at our wedding that they would need Public liability insurance and all there equipment PAT tested, just spoken to my venue and they want certificates for both from the band, unfortunately they have neither Smiley sad Im now bandless and the most gutting thing is they were going to perform our first dance song acoustic Smiley sad Waahhhh!!

They're a band who perform in public and they don't have PLI? That is bizarre. My H DJs like three weddings a year and always makes sure his cert is up to date.

Well the more I think about it the more I think its odd too Smiley atonished Their always out gigging around our area and even the city centre.. I'm just more gutted about the first dance than anything, although the more I think about it now, the more I think maybe its fate because only last weekend H2B said he doesn't know if he wants that song any more (Its one of the few choices he has made)

Can't they just get it now? How long does it take for a policy to come through? Surely not that long. PAT testing I don't know a lot about though, I must admit.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been let down by your band! They should really have all of that sorted.

I play in a wedding band that might be available and has the necessary documentation, we learn most first dances and can perform them acoustically.

If you want to find out more then please get in touch and I will do what I can to help - ****************@*****.***

    Cheers,

    Hi,

    Ok......this should sortable.

The band can get PLI from specialist insurers straight away and download documents.

With your wedding four weeks away you still have time to ask the band to get the equipment PAT tested. You can even get mobile PAT testers to test the gear. It won't cost that much and most venues ask for it so the band should sort it.

Fingers crossed it all works out.

I agree. Both of these are easily sortable with a day on the phone/internet. Neither should be overly expensive. You could offer to cover a portion of the costs (assuming you wasn't paying for the performance in the first place)

Don't know where you are but I know I drive past a PAT testing place on the way to the Merry Hill Centre, Brierley Hill. I'm sure there is a pig poster outside saying 10 items for £40 or maybe even cheaper. I'm sure there must be similar places everywhere.

    Very bizzarre.

We may be able to help depending on date

We're having an open rehearsal in Birmingham tomorrow evening.
