1Lucie, 17 February, 2010 at 15:31 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello,

I am considering having some sort of live entertainment for wedding breakfast/time when room is being set up for evening. I have had a few quotes (some r crazy prices). How much are you ladies paying for such entainment? So i can get them into context.

    Hi Lucie,

We are having a string quartet from the ceremony until the end of the drinks reception when the dinner room is ready (so about 4 hours). They are costing us £700, which is maybe a bit steep, but they were are one big luxury. They also have to travel over 200 miles in the day.

    Hope that helps!!

    xx

We had a harpist for when the guests arrived and for the ceremony (walking up the aisle, signing of register and exit) and she cost so much just for an hour! I'm sorry I can't remember how much, not much help am I! But she was fantastic, would have had her for drinks reception but couldn't quite stretch to it.

    Hi Lucie,

We have a rule-of-thumb guide here:

How much should a live band cost?

I hope it might be of some use.

    all the best

    Tony

We're having a harpist play for the ceremony and drinks reception. She's costing £295 for 2 hours. 3 hours would've been £425.

We found her here http://www.ukharpists.co.uk/ and she has a beautiful harp!

Wow! That definitely is a lot - steer clear. You could be well on the way to getting a 4-5 piece band for the evening for that amount of cash and that will have much more impact on your day.

ps...sorry - am referring to the £600 soloist. Harp at £295 as per above is more like it.
