banns

Mrs G x, 9 June, 2009 at 20:32 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hello

we are getting married at what was our local parish church, we have moved since we boked our wedding we now ive 5 minutes up the road but it comes under a different parish, our vicar says its fine to still get married at what was our local church as both sets of parents still live in the parish and my mum also attends the church, but we have to contact the church which is now our local church to have our bans read, we have been ringing and leaving answerphone messages for about four week and we finaly got through to the vicar today and he told us it wasn't that simple, aparantly we have to fill in an application form and he has to aprove it he then gives us a certificate that costs £35that goes to his church that is on top of the £655 fees we are paying the church that we are having the ceremony.and then he will raed our bans if our application goes through.

does anyone know if this is right?

we havent been told anything about this, our vicar is away at the moment so i cant check with her

Sorry for long post.

Hannah

Not an expert as having a civil wedding, but have you checked the official website for church weddings.

Yep that sounds about right - you are paying the amount to a different church for the work they are doing. I wouldnt' have thought that there would be a problem with it.
