Barcelona

We are off on a cruise next year which ends in Barcelona, so i've just extended our flights by a few days so we can spend a few nights there.

Has anyone got any "Must see's" or "Must stays/eats" etc while we are there.

The most important factor for us in being able to easily get around.

Thanks

Kayl

Also with regards to getting around the tour bus is really good as you buy a day ticket then can get on and off wherever you want and then get on later somewhere else. We stayed at Hotel 4 which is just outside the city so we had to get a bus or the underground to get anywhere but it was a great hotel.

I've been looking at Barcelona for a 3 night break for myself and OH, so sorry for crashing your thread, but I've heard the cathedral is a must see as well.

Just having another look now - thanks for the suggestions!

It seems like a very expensive city to be in too, but I won't compromise on location. Grr. Looks like it's a 2* bedsit... ?

I went when I was a student so stayed in dirt cheap digs organised by the Uni, but can highly recommend:

    - La Sagrada Familia

    - Parc Guell

    - The Cathedral in the Gothic Quarter (even with its evil Geese!)

    - The cable car from Montjuic to the waterfront (views are to die for)

    - Dancing fountains (go at night when they are all lit up)

    - Shopping in Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia (this is where all the posh shops are, it's fab!)

    - Barcelona Zoo

I'd love to go back, it's a gorgeous gorgeous city and so much to see/do! I'd recommend sampling the delicacies in the typical Catalan restaurant too if you don't mind experimenting with different types of food, it's delicious! x

I would really recommend the el born district, it's inbetween the seafront & the gothic quarter. It's not touristy and is quite arty, there are loads of boutique shops, great bars & restaurants and it took us les than 10 mins to walk to the Ramblas. (watch your bag like a hawk in Barcelona).
